This is a guy I think we should take. Might be there in the fourth but I would consider trading up. Why?
Dude is a center and a pretty good one...but he can play OG, and we need a plug and play OG right now.
He is one of the highest ranked overall athletes in the draft, his scouting report says he moves like a TE trapped in a centers body...ran a 4.7 40 at 6'3 310
He is going to get drafted in the later rounds for one reason alone...while he is the best pass protecting OC in the draft,...maybe of all the IOL guys..he currently lacks the power to be a drive blocker in the run game...scouts say he will have to start his career as a situational guy who only comes in on third and long.
but, our guards rarely drive block...most of our run game centers around the guards pulling...so we come back to, "Moves like a TE trapped in an OC's body"
IMO this guy is tailor made to be a Cardinal...he can play OG for a few years then move back to center when Frodo is done...or maybe even steal Frodos job in a year or two and move HIM to OG.

and the thing is... the only decent Guard available now is Ratledge,...and while I like Ratledge...the mullet is cool as hell....dude turns 24 in two weeks...so he will be pushing 30 by the time his rookie contract expires. whereas Jared Wilson is barely 21... some might say that doesnt matter...but it does... not only because Wilson can be a Cardinal for years longer than Ratledge...but also because Ratledge will cap out his physical maturity this year, whereas Wilson is still a growing boy and will get steady stronger for the next 3 to 4 years.... and even with that difference in physical maturity Wilson is already a better pass protector than Ratledge..so in a few years, this kid could be an all pro level interior lineman....and Ratledge likely gets drafted in the late second round..... I wouldnt wait until the 4th to go after Wilson,...either use our third,...or trade back into the third to get him.
we have a need and this kid is a fantastic scheme fit for us.

Thanks for the write up

Sounds like the right kind of guy to develop with a late round pick

If he is that good maybe we could push Froholdt back to guard?

I think another guard in round 3-4 would be a good move. I believe there will be an IOL selection by the Cards today or day 3.

There's a highlight clip where Walter Nolen just pancakes him. Very impressive for Nolen...not so much for Wlson.

The highest rated IOL still on the board is Savainaea from AZ. He’s 6’5, 335 & has been durable. He’s a space eater whose strength is opening holes. He’s faster than Booker, but not sure about his athleticism.

yeah...like I said Jared Wilson is currently lacking in the drive blocking catagory. But that is less important for our guards than most teams...and he is barely 21 so he will get stronger over the course of a rookie contract.
But being the highest rated pass protector of all IOL makes him an asset
