Personally, I feel it is a lazy and ignorant form of communication. I'll put up with some in a movie, but every other word gets old. I just feel it is not necessary.
You must not like my barely legal posts then, huh??

:D

Jarhead's do use the F' bomb quite often (and any other swear word).

Ah, swearing = stupid people. Right, gotcha. Because neither I nor any others I served with ever achieved a college degree, eh? Or a post-graduate degree? Hogwash.
I think he was just referring to combat engineers when he wrote that.

No thanks. That's way more thinking than an 11B wants to do. :D

Non Spoiler review??

Oo rah!

Nah, I was just in a hurry, didn't have time to post much about it.

****SPOILERS*****

THe movie is like the book I guess...the guy wrote about how they trained so much to kill, and never got to even pull the trigger one time. It was like sex with no release he described it.

Anyways, the movie portrays that, and it's almost like the audience feels it too, because you want them to take the damn shot, but it never happens.

Watched it yesterday, very average movie with little substance... Wait for video, not much happens (which I guess is the point) But not worth the $9.75 I had to pay...

Little substance....I don't get that...

Not much happens...that's the WHOLE POINT OF THE MOVIE :)

I agree with your review Mike. I enjoyed the movie. I read the book about 2 months ago and while they did cut some corners and hollywood it up a tad it was made into a movie very very well. The translation from book to movie was one of the best I have seen.

Definitely worth the price of admission.

I watched this movie of the weekend. I have never served in the military, so I’m always interested in movies regarding this subject. I really liked the movie. Unlike most of the war movies that I’ve seen, it focused more on the perspective of training for war from the individual soldier. No big budget action sequences or heroic victories. It must really suck to leave your wife and kids to go train in a desert for a war that you don’t even get to participate in.

I enjoyed it. I really liked the cinematography. A few good one-liners too. My wife walked out after about 15 minutes. Not her kind of flick I guess.

You made your wife sit in the car?

Hopefully you mean that she walked out of the room. Other wise you probablly spent the night in the doghouse. :D

No, this was at home Bada. She went to bed on it. I'd hope my wife would never do something like that. Otherwise I would have to go. :)

Just watched this movie and I dug it, a lot. Jake is a great actor, and so is Sarsgaard.

At the open of this film, I had a very similar "conversation" with a drill sergeant at Army Basic as a 19Kilo where he did the whole "you don't respect me enough to look in my eyes private?" and then when I replied "I do respect you DS" and looked at him he said "so you want to gaze lovingly into my eyes? Are they pretty? do you want to f me private?" to which I responded "no DS" and he said "what?? Are you too good to f me you (homo)? I'm not good enough for you?" You can never escape their circular logic and just need to **** and drop happily when they tell you to.

That scene put me in a great mood to watch the whole film. Awesome, if maybe a bit over the top. People act weird in the military though, so under that stress I could see a lot of that action. Testosterone lit on fire is how it was in our barracks, but we were all so very close.

The same day, I watched Full Metal Jacket again and while Jarhead isn't as good as that movie, it's a great portrayal of the Gulf War time military man. Two very different movies though, from my view. FMJ is fantastic...so many great vulgar lines.

The first half of that movie is some of the best cinema that I’ve ever seen. I haven’t sat down and watched FMJ from start to finish in many moons. I’ll have to do that sometime in the near future. “How tall are you, private?” “Sir, five-foot-nine, sir.” “Five-foot-nine, I didn't know they stacked s**t that high.”
