Cowboys were not prepared for Jason Witten to retire. The irony is he blindsided them late in process like they did Dez Bryant. What will make you laugh will make you cry. He did what was best for him in terms of timing. It ain't personal its business.

#Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he’s met with TE Jason Witten several times, including today. Jones said Witten will take a few days before making a final decision — tho I’m told that decision has been made and he’s going to TV.

I think it’s time for witten to move on. He’s had a great career. Best cowboy since the early 90s days. Wish he could stay one more year.

I heard today on the NFL channel that JJ was completely aware of the fact that he was interviewing for the Monday Night gig. Now maybe they didn't think he had a chance at getting it?

As a fan of the NFL, loved the way Whitten played the game.

As a fan of the Cards, glad to see him leave.

That’s what I heard too. Something along the lines that he was the second or third finalist for the job though(behind Greg Olsen and someone else). When the other top candidates fell through ESPN offered him the job.

Jason Witten continues to contemplate his decision on retirement to join MNF broadcast team but a source says another network has made a last-minute "interesting" proposal that also is being considered. Announcement likely will be Wednesday. The @dallascowboys still hope he plays

Alright, I will do it since it seems nobody else will. Witten is a great TE... Witten is also a poster boy for the Dallas Cowboys and what the hell is this post have to do with the Cardinals and a team which longtime Cardinal fans hate with a passion, when it only belongs here if he was a viable free agent

Still waiting on Jason Witten‘s final decision, as he works it through with Jerry Jones. The Cowboys would love to have him back, though I don’t get the sense Jones is going overboard with the pressure at all.

I found it epic that the Eagles traded up to leapfrog Dallas to take the TE the Cowboys coveted and this came after David Akers trolled Cowboy fans then announced the Eagles drafted a TE named Dallas, who I understand grew up in a family who were rabid Cowboy fans hence naming their kid Dallas. Epic burn Eagles. Epic burn.

I don't care I don't care I don't care I don't care... because they sure are not having a lengthy 'do you feel me' thread when Larry retires on their forum :cards:

I’m not on a cowboys forum but if I was I would post out of respect for Larry. I think a lot of cowboys fans respect him a lot more than they do their own WRs. As far as witten I think he made the right move. And as great of a player that he was you see how great of a guy that he was off the field and in the Lockeroom.
