The Boston Celtics may not have had any cookies and cream on hand for their road tilt against the Portland Trail Blazers this Sunday (March 23) evening, but the absences of Kristaps Porzingis and Jaylen Brown were not especially onerous for the Celtics. Powered by a game-high 30 points from star Boston forward Jayson Tatum, the Celtics won their fifth game in a row at Moda Center against a Trail Blazers squad that has taken out some very good teams in recent days.

Portland kept it close for the first quarter, but as the first frame, the Celtics began to pull away, and remained on top from the mid-point of the second quarter onward to win 129-116.

It can be hard to beat a ball club that is shooting 47 shots from beyond the arc and connecting on 40.4% of them. But the Celtics shot a sizzling 46.0% from deep as a team on 50 attempts, keeping Boston comfortably ahead of the Blazers for most of the contest.

The Celtics also moved the ball well on their way to a 31-assist night while only turning the ball over 9 times

What's next

The Celtics continue their extended road trip with a stop further down the West Coast to face the Sacramento Kings at Golden 1 Center.

It will be a late-night contest for East Coast viewers, with tipoff currently set for 10 pm ET.
