Blake's take

As the starting quarterback with mediocre-to-awful teams in New Orleans, Cincinnati and Arizona, Jeff Blake always wondered what it would be like to have more talent around.

Now he knows. As the Eagles' third-string quarterback, he's surrounded by some of the NFL's best players.

Although he's been reduced to a backup role this year, Blake has no regrets about leaving the Cardinals. But he thinks one Cardinal - wide receiver Anquan Boldin - is worse off without him.

"All of my receivers were basically rookies" in 2003, Blake said. "I helped get one (Boldin) in the Pro Bowl. You take your quarterback and your Pro Bowl receiver and you separate them - that's difficult. I mean, it's going to be hard for Anquan to get back to the Pro Bowl again. I've got a history of putting receivers in the Pro Bowl. Every team I've been on, I put a receiver in the Pro Bowl."

Blake said he was glad he wasn't involved in the Cardinals' revolving-door quarterback saga last season.

"That can be very degrading," he said. "At least here, I know my role."

As a backup to Donovan McNabb this season, Blake completed 18 passes, one for a touchdown, and was intercepted once.

Do you believe he had the balls to say this? Leon, Leon, Leon, when will you learn?

I saw that, too.

I wish I knew what Boldin's yards after catch compared to his total yards ratio was last year.

He knows his role as a back up, too bad he didn't know his role as a starter was to win

Another former Arizona QB complaining about how it wasn't there fault but every single other players!!!!

Boomer did it. Jake did it. and now Jeff Blake is doing it.

When will they realize that they were the talent brought in to better everyone around them, and not the other way around.

At least Josh holds himself accountable for his actions, and doesn't blame the entire team.

Blake was a classless here in Arizona as far as I am conscerned, and did nothing in 2003 to prove he should be starting for our team.

Peace

It was significantly higher with Blake than it was with Josh or anybody else this year, and it was higher with Blake LAST year than it was with Josh the same year.

OBviously Blake is taking far too much credit for QUan's rookie year but there's NO question he made Quan a better player than Josh did, because he hit Quan in stride allowing him to get more YAC.

I wish Jeff would just stop talking though it's getting harder to defend him when he keeps putting his foot in his mouth.

The reason he got the yac when Blake was here was because he was in the slot. It had nothing to do with Blake. Once they started moving q around, he started getting the yac.

I wasnt a big fan of letting Blake go last year but I understand why Green did it. I liked Blake prior to his stint in AZ and say what you will, he was a proven QB.

I just dont understand why he can't seem to keep his mouth shut???

Well then why did his YAC drop the minute we benched Blake for Josh? Quan was still in the slot but his YAC dropped immediately, his YPC number was nearly 2 full yards lower with Josh in 03 than it was with Blake.

Again, I don't think Blake "put" Quan in the Pro Bowl or made him a ROY, but there's absolutely no question that Quan was a better player with Blake than he was with Josh.

I agree about Quan and the slot, I've been complaining about it ever since Quan got healthy, I think he and Fitz should swap positions.

Agreed, I didn't think we would cut him, or should have cut him, but I understood what Green was thinking and I think Jeff's popping off recently is further evidence that Green was probably right. If Jeff started we'd have been OK but if Green played Josh, Jeff was going to be a problem, and I'm pretty sure that's why Green cut him he knew he couldn't promise him the starters job unchallenged.

You gotta admit ...

Jeff "teflon" Blake did a great job getting TO into the pro bowl this year.

Come on Lex, with all the dumb stuff he said to pick on, you have to take something he said totally out of context instead? He quite clearly was talking about his time with us, and before us when he said every team he'd been with he put someone in the Pro Bowl, it's clear as day in that quote.

You know perfectly well he wasn't taking credit for anything with the Eagles this year.

Just admit you don't like the guy, and attack him for the dumb stuff he actually said instead of making stuff up to complain about.

Hmmm, I thought I used the sarcastic smiley.

Whatever.

actually you used the "red faced" smiley which indicates embarassment, as in Blake should be embarassed to be claiming he put TO in the Pro Bowl.

Just seems like Blake has said enough dumb things the last few days there's not much point ripping him for something he didn't actually claim.
