Because you'd expect Larry to trash his own squad?

I believe his words were ''that usually you have one or 2 that you look at & know they are just camp bodies. Not this year. Everyone in that room are good enough to be NFL receivers''. Or something like that. I'm quoting from memory. Which isn't very good.

I remember this one game our starting receivers were:

Jason McAddley
Kevin Kasper
Bryan Gilmore
Nate Poole

We were so hyped about Jerry Sullivan that we wanted him to be OC

Not everyone was hyped about his "new innovative offense" everyone kept touting for reasons that are still beyond me.

If they truly want to make a big run at it this year, it only makes sense to give Maclin a decent one year deal.

Besides Larry, you're depending on John Brown, who hasn't proved he can be healthy when the rubber meets the road yet, Jaron Brown, who has no special skills and is coming off an ACL, Nelson, who's a solid number 3 and a rookie who most thought was taken too early.

Maclin brings size, speed and depth. It's a no brained to me if he's not looking to break the bank.

I'd like a #2 CB, but bringing in a speedy vet WR can't hurt

Interest could mean anything. I'm sure the 30 other teams are interested too. Interest could be like this:

SK: I see Maclin was released by KC. Should we bring him in for a looksee?
BA: Meh, let's wait and see what happens.

That qualifies as interest. Interest could also mean:

SK: I see Maclin was released by KC. Should we bring him in for a looksee?
BA: I'm on my way to his house as we speak with a contract proposal and a plane ticket in hand.

This, too, qualifies as interest. Granted they're on opposite ends of the spectrum but saying a team is interested is as subjective as it can get.

Somewhere in the middle. I would venture to guess that it only gets leaked out if the interest is worthy enough to bring him in and offer a competitive contract.

I heard Gambo talking about it today. He assured listeners that the Cards' interest is genuine. They have some cap money to play with, but a lot of other needs teams (49ers specifically were mentioned) have a LOT more cap room and if a bidding war erupts, the Cards would quickly back away. Or so goes Gambo's theory. He may have been high on Pei Wei at the time, so anything is possible.

But - perhaps Maclin will care more about playing for a contender, where he would fit perfectly and get a chance to put up some nice numbers. The Cards would obviously fit that description better than a team like the Niners or Rams, where he would likely suffer in their atrocious offenses.

We should know soon, I suspect he'll sign relatively quickly someplace. I'd love to have him here.

While considering Maclin, I can't help but remember that he most recently played for Andy Reid, and we know all too well how we've fared with Reid guys in the past.

Haha, apparently Somers' source(s) not the same as Gambo's. I want to hear how he addresses this on his show today. I've almost given up listening to local sports talk, given the poor programming choices and what seems like 50% commercial time.

It has been over 12 hours, maybe we changed our mind due to price.
