Kid from San Diego skipped senior year of HS to play pro basketball in israel, gave up a Louisville scholarship. Played 10 games of his contract(140K) and then quit the team and came home. He walked out of a game at the half, was suspended 3 games, and then quit, averaged about 2 PPG. Coach says it didn't work out, people in SoCal say it was pretty easy to forecast the kid was very immature and his family was not giving him the guidance he needed because they were trying to make him the moneymaker.

Pretty sad, kid is talented but really immature. Worst part is he's not draft eligible because he's not a year out of HS because his grad class is 2010. So he can either try to find another pro team overseas or something like the Globetrotters or he'll be sitting at home for a year. I think his NBA stock would be really low now anyways but it's not clear how he's going to improve for when he is draft eligible if he can't play.

Hope that will be a lesson to those trying to do the same, but probably not.

Here's the link. Kid should have just stayed in the United States, dominate his senior year, play 1 year at LOU. Just comes off as lazy and is going to slide when he declares for the draft with so many big men whose games are more developed after a year in college and with the possibility of not playing basketball for a year. Brandon Jennings should have played 1 year at UA, that year in Europe didn't really develop his game but he is such a good player that he was going to make it in the NBA. Kids see the money and not the big picture trying to grow up too quick.

You see this happen to highly touted kids, look at Derrick Caracter & Renaldo Sidney. Caracter is finally getting it together with UTEP after a miserable 2 years at LOU documented by suspensions and highlighted by being dismissed from the team. Sidney is not going to play college ball, having to cough up $11k and sit out 9 games next year, he'll declare for the draft but with so many talented bigs coming out this year he probably won't get drafted.

Sidney will be interesting he's insisting he's coming back next year. I still haven't figured him out he's not on scholarship right now so he's managed to pay his own way for a year at MSU, he was born there but he hasn't been there long enough to be a resident so he's paying non resident costs too. I know they claim his grandparents have money so maybe they're paying the way and will pay the 11K or maybe his parents got better jobs but somehow he's been able to pay his own way all year and apparently stay eligible so I guess I'm hoping he somehow learned something this year? But then you hear he's way overweight so doesn't sound like he learned much.

I guess it will come down to what his father pushes him to do unfortunately, after all its his father who got him into this mess.
