Terry McDonough was on with Doug and Wolf today and they believe that Williams isn't a project given on how fast he has learned and how well he played last year in the SEC.

They are also talking up the Cat Man D which is a cute way of saying man coverage.

Then consider how vastly our pass rush is going to improve with Chandler and Diche added. Now when we blitz we may actually get to the QB

Having typed all that I think they should sign Powers. I think they are waiting to see if any of the young CB's on the roster show something in the OTA's.

I've never been a big Powers fan but I wouldn't mind them signing him to a reasonable deal as a slot corner. I think many are underestimating how much of a difference a good/great pass rush will make. Our pass rush last year was horrible, which is one of the factors in why Bethel looked bad.

they drafted two projects and have a guy coming off his second ACL surgery, with a starting CB who looked pretty mediocre last year (and that's being super generous to Bethel). If the above is true, they're making a mistake, IMO.

I would sign a veteran since we are basically all in but they are being pretty transparent that they won't as the roster currently stands.

signing a vet cant hurt...if nothing else they can cut him after the last pre season game and really only lose the bonus.....

what will make the biggest difference this year IMHO...is if we can finally get pressure with only a four man front.... if we can line up Jones, Campbell, RK90, and Peters/Gunter and get to the QB in 4 seconds or less...... it wont much matter how good our coverage is...only if our DB's can catch the errant ball when it hits them.

Need to have a vet that could help out mold that of the rookies or young players.

If our defensive line does what we hope they can do, it will take a lot of pressure off our CB's.
