So you praise Rex Ryan for seeing what he has in an unknown quantity rather than going with something he knows doesn't work, but then hammer Whis because he doesn't go back to a something he knows doesn't work in favor of getting more information on an unknown quantity?

It's killing me, but not playing Lindley until Kolb gets back would be the worst thing a team out of it could do. You HAVE to KNOW what you have in Lindley because you need to know how many QBs you need to get in the offseason. Can he be a starter? Can he be a back up? Does he improve game to game? These are not questions you can answer with him on the bench for an already known player in Skelton.
Ryan won. Wiz lost.

I'm not putting Rex on any pedestal, but winning and losing do count. One more lucky bounce and suddenly Wiz is a genius and Ryan a dummo. That's show biz.

I posted this in another thread.. If I recall correctly, since we waive/injured him we cannot re-sign him this year.

That's right up there with the "Todd Heap Clause"---if you don't waive him, you still don't have to play him---ALL SEASON LONG!!!

When your starter can't stay healthy, and your backup is garbage, yeah, you have to know what you have in your third strong QB. Especially when he is a rookie.

Basically, the Cards are finding out if they cut Kolb, do they need to sign another vet to backup whomever they bring in, or can Lindley be the guy.

Well obviously Lindley is not the guy. Worst passing I've ever seen in an NFL game. How long does it take to see that the guy simply can't throw the football?

It will be much easier for Lindley next week up in Seattle. 5 first downs may look good.

So as opposed to winning the game our goal is to evaluate third string QB's. The Lindley evaluation was complete when he started throwing the ball like he had a blindfold on.

Let's start our second string D next week to see what we have???

I have been a Cardinals fan since 1957 and in all that time, including Terry Nofsinger, Buddy Humphrey, Gary Cuozzo, and numerous others, no one, and I repeat no one has played as bad and looked as bad as Lindley did today. He made Max Hall look like an All Pro. He looked lost and acted that way. After 55 years of following this team through 3 cities and having spent untold thousands of dollars doing so I think I and the rest of us are entitled to something better than what we saw today. The SB is so far in the rearview mirror right now as to be almost forgotten. Whiz should be, has to be, fired if the team is to have any credibility whatsoever. Skelton's not the answer but he should have done something, anything, to try and get a victory and rescue that kid, yet he stood on the sidelines and did nothing. That's unpardonable.

Honestly, this is nonsense. There are still four games left (now) in the season. There's no reason in weeks 10, 11, and 12 to find out if you have a QB on the roster who can start in 2013. It's pretty clear that Lindley is no better than Max Hall or John Skelton. If these coaches are doing their jobs, that should be clear from practices.

There's no other team in the NFL--not the Chiefs, not the Jags, not the Titans, not the Eagles--asking themselves what they have at #3 QB with more than a quarter of the season left to play.

Even if Kolb is kept on the roster, you have to bring in a veteran QB. Whether Whis is here or not, Ryan Lindley is coming to camp, because he's under contract for peanuts.

There's no logical argument that Ryan Lindley gives this team a better chance to win, and there's no sense in saying that in Week 11 the Cards need to find out what they have in Ryan Lindley.

By his logic we should promote the head ball boy to head coach and see what we have there.

Honestly, I think my biggest gripe with Whiz the whole season might be how he has handled Todd Heap these last couple of weeks. I think both of the healthy QB's we have right now are not NFL caliber QB's, and the team has been decimated by injuries, but to have a veteran like Heap healthy and ready to contribute on an offense that literally can't gain a first down, and you keep him on the bench in favor of Jim Dray?! Above everything else that's happened, I think that is the most inexcusable thing that Whiz has done. And I'm not a Heap fan (and a UA alumn to boot), but you need literally everything you can get right now to help the offense.

http://www.azcentral.com/sports/car...t-arizona-cardinals-coach-ken-whisenhunt.html

“I think we’re doing everything we can to win ballgames as a defense,” Peterson said. “I don’t know what’s going on with the offensive side. I can’t speak for them. But as a defense, we’re doing everything we can to put our team in the best position to win ballgames.”

Whisenhunt claimed he was doing the same thing. But on Sunday, very few people were buying his assessment. Peterson called it a “tough bullet to swallow, creating all these turnovers and still walking away with the ‘L.’ ”

Judging by comments like this, I don't think the guys on D are big fans of Lindley's extended tryout.
