On CBS sportsline they have an article on how the Jets are desperate for top pass rusher and would have beat the offer the Raiders received from the Bears for Mack.

Would you take 2 number 1 picks for Chandler Jones? He won't command the price of Mack but he's an elite edge rusher. I'm not usually one to trade established top talent for draft picks but may consider it in this case. The Cards are definitely in a rebuild mode but that rebuild could be a quick one if Rosen is the real deal(to me another reason to get him on the field).

However, by time the Cards are good again, Jones may be past his prime and no longer the edge threat he is now. If I'm Keim, I crack open a beer, and listen to the Jets offer(s). If they could grab 2 first round picks, I pull trigger.

Nobody has more sacks than Jones over the last 3 years. Not Mack not anybody. He would command more than Mack imo. You don't trade away one of your core players.

He wouldn’t command more than Mack but because he’s under a more reasonable contract we might match that.

If we did that we should likewise sell PP. but if we did we would be woeful for a looong time.

No way. If we're not contending for the playoffs next year we've got the wrong GM.

Ridiculous amounts of cap room with our best players locked up and a young QB ready to step in. Next season is our coming out party, Jones and PP will still be plenty young.

If markus golden was fully healthy I would consider the offer
We got him for a bargain and receiving a 2first round picks will give us a chance to rebuild a team that actually has zero chance to be competitive
Hopefully with a new Gm

The future of a franchise, is the franchise Qb, build around him a great line and couple of playmakers and the future is bright
Other positions are expandable

Look at new england, saints, falcons, the same Philadelphia, green bay etc etc and what they have done

Lets consider the best pass rusher in the league and what they achieved with their team, no much

Jj What
Khalil mack
Donald
Suh
Campbell
Kerrigan
Geno atkins
Etc etc

Ok von Miller had a trophy but with payton manning, but is the lone of the list

Which of the following 2 players (granted, on a rookie contract) would you take over Jones on his current contract?

Jonathan Cooper
Deone Bucannon
DJ Humphries
Nkemdiche
Reddick

Obviously this doesn't mean a blind squirrel can't find a nut eventually, but there's only 1 player on that list that belongs as a starter in this league. Just gives some perspective.

Draft picks get overvalued so much. No thanks on trading a premier pass-rusher away

See if Jets would take Reddick or Golden.

This is my thought as well. Problem is we won't get much if anything for Reddick at this point and Golden would only get us some decent draft capital after a couple of games where he gets some sacks and pressures.

Remember the rams trade with the Redskins for RG3?? All the picks the rams had were bad and were out the league in a few years. If you have poor talent evaluators, then all the high picks in the world won’t matter.

the raiders made the right choice... bears are likely to be picking higher than the jets.

the exact same package from the jets will have less value than from the bears.... and Jones has produced more than Mack...

But...2 firsts and 2 seconds???...... if utilized well we could come out stronger... but.....well...thats the crutch aint it

Are we only one additional talented player or draft pick (less the absence of Chandler Jones) away from playoff contention?

Last week's debacle was a "team effort" and it will take more than one player (and the absence of Chandler) to set things right.
