I based this off the Sporting News assumptions on when these guys might be available.

1)Calais Campbell, DE Miami (FL)- big, fast, would make Pace look like an after thought in my opinion

2)Kevin Smith, HB Central Florida- durable, no nonsense back who hits the hole with a mean streak and can catch out of the backfield

3)Chevis Jackson, CB LSU- could step in on the nickel package and provide some needed depth

4)Titus Brown, DE Miss. St.- coached up right, could be a nightmare for opposing QBs

5)Akim Millington, OT Illinois- a guy Grimm could mold into a possible starter and provide depth

6)Chester Adams, OT Geogia- a load of a player, another player for Grimm to work some magic...has the stuff but needs some help

7)Kennith Moore, WR Wake Forest- not the burner everyone wishes for but simply catches everything that comes his way

Wait, so this is for the Cardinals or the Jets?

NM, Jetstream Green's.

I worry about Campbell, I do like the Smith pick and the focus on Oline is good, if a little late.

Agree with the big part, Campbell's not especially fast at all. Maybe quicker than fast.

Now repeat after me. CB second. CB second.

Those are some intruiging names that havn't been brought up before. Can you tell us a little more about Brown, Millington and Adams?

I have a feeling the Cards are targeting Kevin Smith possibly. But it won't be in the 2nd round. If they do it'll be reaching big time for him.
He's a Central Fla. kid, someone James can relate to and tutor. He won't take his job right away either. BUT he's not the lightning/home run hitting back that Whiz has expressed a desire for. So? What to do?

kevin smith is a stud. I don't hear much about him anymore, but everytime I watched him last season he played very well.

WildBB, repeat after me. At the top of the Draft, BPA, BPA, BPA.

I think BPA is like a water stain under a bridge. To some it's just a stain, to others it's the Virgin Mary.

My point is, polling the 32 teams, there'd be very few repeating names. The order those names were in would also vary, sometimes wildly. That's because it's filtered through the team's perceptions and needs, consciously or not.

There may be one or two guys at the front of every draft class that all teams would love to have, but that's rarely the case.

just me

but I think for his size, Campbell is very quick/fast and Smith for some reason is flying under everyones radar at the moment but a better back to me than Ray Rice because the kid is bigger than Rice. I think Smith will be a back everyone will say why did they pass on him when he has no red flags and just as good or better than everyone else looked at as second round at the hb position. Jamal Charles for instance...no thank you, we already have a JJ Arrington :)

other option...

I would be very happy with the Cason kid from the Wildcats for a CB pick in the first round. Some scouts grip about his top end speed but the kid can play on a swivel and can adjust in coverage top flight...can we say possibly another A. Williams...draft him and by all means give him number #35.

We agree Lorenzo...why hasn't Smith gotten more attention...all I know is what I had seen and the kid can play.

I think the deal with Smith is that he has a lot more mileage on his tires than Rice does, and doesn't have as much breakaway potential. There are also some questions about his level of competition.

Of the guys that will likely be available to us, I would only take Mendenhall in the first, and Rice in the second (and Rice only if Cason is off the board). If I can't get either of those guys, I'm taking Thomas Brown in the 3rd or 4th round.

I would rather have Campbell then Merling at this point in time. Hope there is a better player to pick with the #16 pick but wouldnt be sad with Campbell. Dont think he would replace or make us not miss Pace though becuase he wouldnt be playing in the same position as Pace. Campbell is a 6-8 290 pound DE that would be taking the place of Antonio Smith. To big and tall to be agile enough to do what Pace did.

Is it that you just prefer Campbell over Merling at this time, or have you changed your overall feelings about Campbell? I remember not long ago that you wanted no piece of Campbell at 16 overall.

I'm not sure I really do, either. But I was wondering if something had turned you around on Calais. I don't really like Merling, either. But if the Cards think that Campbell can be anything like Igor Olshansky/Luis Castillo/Chris Canty in this defense, I think they should pull the trigger on him, as long as any of the clearly superior players are off the board (like Mendenhall, McKelvin, Jenkins, or Clady).

Prefer Campbell over Merling. Still not sure about him as the #16 pick though. My stance has change slightly on him though. Showed up at a solid 290 lbs at the combine which is about 10 pounds bigger then what I thought he was, did a respectable 16 reps on the bench which is pretty good for a DE with the longest arms in the draft, and showed good leg strength with a 34.5 inch vertical. Weight, strength, and stoutness were my biggest concerns and he sort answered two of them but I am still not sure about his stoutness to play as a 3-4 end.

i wouldn't mind Campbell and Smith but in the 3rd and 4th rounds. Have those 2 follow Otah and Cason and that's a pretty healthy draft.

I like Campbell but would rather trade down a bit to get him, but if there are no takers for the 16 pick, i'd be ok with him there. I'd rather have Charles in the 2nd, but you know I'm a homer. I think Charles offers more of a change of pace/home run threat, and has alot less wear on his tires. Also think Smith can be had in the 3rd, hell Charles may be there in the 3rd.

Don't know much about the OL, but addressing that position is good.
