Tossing it out there ... Did Graves draft, or sign, anyone of significance?

Just have never seen the value in piling on a fella that has slipped, and is trying to rebuild his world. Not really into that sort of thing. Always want those that I part with to do well, and succeed in whatever it is they're shooting for. Easy to push anger when we do not meet our expectations, no matter how unrealistic, but sorta cool too sit back and acknowledge where we were before, and were we've gone since ex-cap moved on. So, what good did Graves, do for us?

I agree Jim. I wasn't a fan of some of his moves or contracts, but the guy seemed to me to have a lot of integrity and he did the best he could (and I'm aware nobody cares if he tried). We've all had jobs where our talents weren't able to be utilized and sometimes a change of scenery is necessary. I don't wish bad on anyone--not Graves and not the Jets. I'm a firm believer that thoughts are things and will come back to kick your ass if you wish ill on someone. We have our own problems, it's not like Graves was the sole reason for our abject failure. This franchise has had issues for decades, it's not like Rod made us suddenly suck. In fact, you could say the franchise did better under his stewardship than the numerous decades before him. I actually think he'd still be here if not for the Kolb contract. He threw money at a problem, and he's not the first, it's not like he invented the idea.

Not much, and that is why we we are "piling on" the guy. Graves tenure was long, frustrating, and mostly miserable.

Truth is not always gum drops and candy canes, especially in the sports world when you do your job poorly for a long time.

Nobody is wishing Graves "ill will". He has a proven track record that he will do a horrid job, and we all have witnessed first hand.

I'm thrilled with the job Keim is doing so far. I'm also thankful for the SB appearance we experienced during Graves tenure. Not sure how much credit he should get but it is more than zero.

Graves was handcuffed by Bidwill Sr. and once Michael starting having some say the Cards with Graves as the "GM" did win two NFC West titles in a row and get to the SB.

Once again I believe Keim is an upgrade and I'm thrilled he replaced Graves.

Just shows you that the NFL has a huge good-ole-boy network. This guy is a horrible NFL executive.

Meanwhile the Pats, Dolphins, and Bills fans are dancing in the streets.

But he also brought in such all stars in:

Skillet hands Johnston, Kenny King, stepanovich, Navarre, Eric Green, Blackstock, Elton Brown, Lance Mitchell, Thesmel Leinart :D, Pope, Brandon Johnson, Todd Watkins, Turnstile Brown :D, Branch, Buster Davis, Harrington, Keith, Red Cross Wells :D, Cody freaking Brown :bang:, Herman Johnson, Will Davis, Schohawk, Row 27 Skelton :D, Dray, Red Cross Williams:D, Sturdivant, Sampson, Lindley

How bout letting go of: Deuce, Dansby, Reggie Wells, Rolle, Antonio Smith, Pace, Big Davis, TJ, Q

And finally the great FA signings of:

Al bum knees Johnson, Adam not even CFL Snyder, Bryan toast McFadden, Dewreck Anderson, etc

The most brilliant move the Cards ever made was firing the human snail IMO. If Chilidog Green had never had the 2004 draft class & signed #13 ol' Rod would've never sniffed a SB & been fired 5 years ago.

Nice guy...bad GM who I despised while he was in control. :bang:

If we are going to give credit to Graves for all the loosing season the Cardinals have had, then we need to give Graves credit for all the winning the Cardinals have had.

I wish the man well and hope he can help turn the Jets around.

3 winning seasons out of the 16 years Graves was with the Cardinals. That's not much "all".

I wish him the best. Nice guy. Very polite and well spoken the couple of times that I chatted with him.

Per Jurecki. Front office position

:biglaugh:

He must have a friend in the personnel office. I doubt he will ever again be a Sudo GM. He really was never a GM here so got no GM experience other than by watching. What does he bring to the table? If he had anything to do with the Warner hiring the kudos to him. Denny had everything to do with Larry so I give him no credit on that deal. He was Mr. B's man from beginning to end.

Idzik was the Assistant GM for the Cardinals with Graves from 2004-2007

So, 2 years out of 20+ as part of the Cardinals ?

A little under 10% of the time he was here, he could say he built a winner.

I guess that is something to hang your hat on.

I would be embarrassed, personally if a little more than 90% of the time I was failing at my job.

I find this unbelievable. Front office doing what? His experience it appears to me is being a gopher for Mr. B. He may be a very personal likeable guy but when it comes to football his credentials seem very lacking with anything to do with football.

Ridiculous argument. You'd have to compare him to other front office personnel with the same amount of experience and rising through the ranks to judge whether or not he was successful. I could extrapolate some #'s for you if you want: he's our only GM to take us to a SB in AZ. The only GM to take us to a championship since they were the Chicago Cardinals. Championship games matter. Did he make mistakes? Yep. All GM's do. Even the best ones.

We got spoiled in a good way after the SB in '08. We expect more.

You are right we can't blame him really. Rod Graves was nothing but a figurehead. I doubt he ever had any say in anything. A yes man for the Bidwills and the coach of the month and nothing more.

Meanwhile it looks like Keim might actually have been given the power to be a real GM.
