Not close. Ken Anderson, Bert Jones, Joe Theismann, Steve McNair, Randall Cunningham, Daryle Lamonica, Phil Simms, Rich Gannon, Boomer Esiason, Ken Stabler are ten eligible guys I'd take before Hart, no question. A bunch more on his level, too.

And I love the guy.

Cunningham? Are you serious? He couldn't carry Hart's jock.

Cant compare his stats to current players due to rules changes. Take a look at all the QBs completion percentages from that era. That was before West Coast Offense before all the rules to enhance passing. He was better than people are giving him credit for due to modern day comparisons.

Bradshaw 51.9% 212 210. Proof you cant compare today with then.

As much as I like Jim Hart as a person and a player I would be surprised if he made it to the hall of fame. He had some very good years but looking over his whole career no. Great guy but hall of famer no.

The completion percentages way back then were just lower, more deep balls no WC offenses at all.

BTW, the style of offense they ran is an ancestor of what we run now and what won the Rams their SB.

Here's a HOF QB's stats from around the same era, higher completion percentage but always played on a lot better team, less yards.

Hall of fame not even close. Except for 3 years in mid 70s, most of the teams he played on were mediocre. In all fairness, completion % and ratings were much lower in those days (Staubach was probably considered the best of that era and his rating was only in the 80s) but he had no playoff wins, and a lot more ints than TDs.

Then how did Namath make the Hall? Ever look at his numbers? Not too great if you ask me. And he's got almost 50 more INT's than TD's. Ironically though, we drafted Namath in '65.
