He holds nearly ALL the all-time franchise records for passing. Unless we have a QB that plays here for 10 years he will own them forever. He was a very good QB for that era. Back in the 70's teams didn't throw the ball as much as the teams of today. Great to see him!!! His nickname was "babyface". The memories!!! Hart to Gray used to toast Dallas on a regular basis.

Hart was erratic but you have to remember the era, it was a totally different game DB's were allowed to make a lot of contact, many of the rule changes in the last few decades made passing a lot easier than it was then.

Hart was an incredibly clutch QB, that team was the Cardiac Cards for a reason when Hart got hot he was really fun to watch.

But he definitely threw a lot of picks I think he had 5 in a Pro Bowl once IIRC.

you can't compare throwing the football of today to that era. Look up the WR's avg per catch back in those days. The short passing game that we see today was very limited. Teams back in the day threw the ball "down the field" more. Apples and oranges.

Passing stats have inflated since the '70s. The five yard chuck rule came in since the beginning of Hart's career, and all the changes to the rules have favored the passing game.

There's a reason that the career leaders in passer rating all played in the last 15 years or so... Steve Young, Peyton Manning, Kurt Warner, Tony Romo...

Hart was a fine QB for his time, and you shouldn't judge his numbers by those being produced today.

Thanks man. Like I said a QB would have to play possibly 10 years here to match his TD totals.

This was the era where a late hit on the QB was if you tackled him on his way into the locker room!

He had a cannon for an arm and it was more of a long bomb era, the completion percentages and all were much lower but it was a lot of fun to watch.

I haven't seen him in a while, first time he's aged that much as far as I can tell.

Hart played on some very lean teams. He gave us some very exciting moments and operated an offense second to none in the mid 70's.
Class act all the way!

I caddied for him in Jan Senerud's golf torunament about 14 years ago. What a great guy. The follwoing year I got to caddy for Neil Lomax. He was ok, but nowhere near as classy as Hart.

When I was a kid I sent Jim Hart a letter telling him he was my favorite Cardinal and he sent me an autographed picture.

The problem Kody is he was God for the Cardic Cards in the 70's. Us older fans from that time will take offense when you lam blast him with out doing your homework on him. Jim Hart is one of the classiest guys you will ever meet. He was also the AD at Southern ILL back in the 90's.

A Cardinal legend. I remember when he and Charley Johnson competed for the job and Hart got the job when Johnson was called in for military duty.

Some rough seasons for Jim before he settled in. I loved watching him play.
