and furthermore,

Aaron Rodgers - Cal
Peyton Manning - Tennessee
Andrew Luck - Stanford
Elway - Also Stanford

What point are you trying to make? School size doesnt matter to me just like a guys height doesnt matter to me.

For every small school name you come up with I can give you 10 more from a big school. It doesnt matter. What does matter is what you do in those small schools.

Derek Carr is from Fresno, not a powerhouse. But he mangles his competition. That matters. If you are in a small school, you need to perform above your schools competition. Bortles doesnt. Garoppolo doesnt. Jordan Lynch as a pocket passer doesnt (he does as a scrambler though, but hes not being drafted as a RB)

A guy who performs OK vs OK schools is not going to be an OK QB at the NFL level.

If a QB isnt worth taking in the 1st 2 rounds, then he isnt worth taking in the next 5 because theres no value in drafting a backup.

So you have a clue as to what you are talking about?

I think the consensus is building.

"Eastern has really one of the best quarterbacks I've ever seen. I didn't even know who he was until I watched him. He's a great player."
- Urban Meyer

Garoppolo "was as hot as I've ever seen any quarterback [against Illinois State], and I've seen Robert Griffin III mighty hot in a couple of games in the Big 12."
- Dino Babers

"I've been around RGIII but Jimmy has the fastest release I've ever seen."
- Dino Babers

"Very few quarterbacks today allow their shoulder -- the rotator cuff -- to drive the throwing motion," said [former NFL QB Jeff] Christensen, who used tape of Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady to help Garoppolo visualize the correct motion. "Jimmy just did."

"[Garoppolo] is one of the best I've ever had at being able to take that information, digest it and put it on the football field without ever having practiced it," Babers said.

"Garoppolo (6-2 1/4, 222) has a real strong arm and is athletic (he has a 40 time of 4.8 seconds)," Brandt writes. "He hails from the same school that produced Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo." The former NFL exec listed Garoppolo as the No. 48 senior in the country and over well-known quarterbacks like UNC's Bryn Renner, Fresno State's Derek Carr, and TCU's Casey Pachall

Excellent release quickness. Eyes are married to feet, so almost always in position to pull trigger. Shows ability to effectively alter arm angle when necessary. Occasionally fails to transfer weight from back to front, which results in ball floating. But when he gets good hip rotation and follows through on throws, he shows good velocity on fast ball. Has no trouble driving the ball into wind. Has proven capable of making all the throws in snow/ice. Overall velocity is a notch below elite but above NFL average. - Scout, Inc.

Will you please post your credentials? Given that you only seem to make absolute statements, I suspect you are a professional football analyst. It would be a pleasure to hear the advice of a professional.

They found Flacco and made him a first rounder, why not this kid?

Because Flacco is tall enough to play 2 guard and has an elite arm.

I'm a HUGE fan of this kid. Watched him twice this year. He looks like Aaron Rodgers to me. He's just shy of this metric or that metric to justify first round. If you look at the whole package, though, and project what he'll look like in three years, there's not a more complete QB in the draft, in my not-so-expert opinion.

Put him under a dome on turf and I think he goes up a notch.

I live in Charleston...he has had a great year and has been very consistent over his career. I would take him in the 4th or 5th and develop him under Palmer for a year or two.

Little, where do ya live in Charleston? We lived on 4th street for 5 years before moving to BFE.

Maybe he did it with smoke and mirrors. :D

He should be fun to watch at the Combine.

He won't last that long. If he performs well in combines, he might not make it past the Saints in the first round. Brees is 35 and they're looking for a guy to bring in now. Sean Payton is an Eastern Illinois alum and held many of the passing records before Romo and Garoppolo annihilated them.

Would love to draft this kid.

Almost a 6 to 1 TD to int ratio (53-9) and over 5000 yards this year is very impressive on any level.

He'll be playing in the east west shrine game, I wish we could see him in the senior bowl, but the shrine game should be telling.

It'll be nice to see him throw, but those games only tell you if a QB is awful. They don't separate the run-of-the-mill guys from the great ones. There's no way to replicate the kind of day-to-day mental facility required to play the position. More than anything, I think coaches go to those games to watch linemen line up against other good linemen, and to see how all the guys practice during the week. It's really hard to make many more judgments from those games.
