I want to see him get it back together this weekend.

I just watched the replay of the last play of the game; after looking at it from three different angles, I now think he was not being a bitch as I thought earlier, but that he actually thought he'd get the first by diving. Not knowing where he was is the issue, IMO, other than avoiding the tackle. I'd have rather had him fight for yards, yes...but I truly think that he thought he had it with the dive. Bad decision on his part, either by being a bitch or by not knowing where he was, depending upon your opinion. (Johnh, I know where you stand, no reply needed in this regard.) :D

But even more than that, and even more than my thought that we should have ran on third and passed on fourth, instead of the opposite, was WHY IN THE WORLD RUN A PITCH PLAY? Pitches aren't safe. Why not just hand it off in an off tackle run? If you are going to screw up and run on the wrong down, at least stick the ball in the RBs chest and let him run, not throw it out and hope there isn't a miscatch or worse.

Anyway, this is a poor defense against the run. I really would like to see JJ get 20 carries and get some confidence...he sure could use it right now. He's got talent, and this could be his breakout game. I don't want to see us abandon the run, but I know we will. We do every game, even when Shipp and JJ are running well. It is maddening.

Here's to JJ having a big game, and a monster win by 3 scores over the worst team in the league. Anything else will only help me get better seats in the new stadium.

I saw the replay several times too. Its hard to explain but it looked to me like he knew he wasnt going to make the yards, so he tried to make too much of a cut and he just fell. I didnt think he had time to turtle. The play call was doomed from the start.

You thinking Endzone, dogg? Wife said I could renew!

Definitely endzone bro!!!

Maybe we'll be by each other again...wear your Josh jersey so I can spill beer on it. :D

Man, I'll miss the people in our section...it's a nice little area we have camped out now, but boy will it be great in that new stadium with an endzone FULL of Cardinal fans and Cardinal fans only.

Say what you will, but I heard you cheer for him a couple of times :biglaugh:
If he goes to another team and kicks butt I have a good souvenier. If he disappears, at least I can have the nameplate changed to "12th Man"!

Arrington didnt want to get lit up. So he wussed out and didnt absorb the hit. He needs to quickly be told that if he keeps that up he will be working at WAL MART with Wendell Bryant.

I never cheered for Josh.

Ok, just a little. When I thought there might have been a shot he turned the corner. He did, but there was a brick wall one step past the corner. Nice jersey though!

I think JJ probably was somewhat trying to dive under Taylor but there's no way he gave the effort necessary on that run. I like the kid as much as anybody but he came up short there and he didn't fight for it. He should have continued wide through the block by Big and tried to outrun Taylor to the corner.

I don't think the play was as bad as I first thought when I watched but there's no question he took the easy way out and I sure hope we never see that again from him.

I watched again for the first time today.

JJ was looking at getting decapitated, and got low in order to live to fight another day.

It was pure self-preservation, and man, I can't blame him. Any running back in he league would have gone down if he were going to take that shot. No first down is worth getting your eyeballs knocked out.

On the other hand, he could have juked or something. Spin, twist, twirl something, anything.

Maybe he saw the safety coming in for the kill at the last second, but I thought he had time to make a move.

Watching Tiki Barber today reminded what a lack of effort we really get from JJ. Barber who is about the size of Arrington was a real horse even after he got past the line of scrimmage. He fought with much larger defenders and still was getting that extra yard or two. When I quit watching he had over 200 yards and many of them were yards gained after he should have been down. I am not cutting JJ any slack. His performance this year has been lousy and the effort has not been there. He goes down with the first hit and rarely gets you those extra 2 or 3 vital yards.

Spin it anyway you like

The play speaks for itself. What you saw is what we got. A lame effort at the best. To play with the best football players in the world you expect effort and heart. We got neither. There is no spin on that play it is what it is. If you could place the heart of Larry Centers into JJ perhaps he might make an NFL RB.

yep it was an amazing contrast to watch Barber and Larry Johnson in a big game running wild after watching Cadillac Williams go down over and over and over against New England in the first game, 14 carries 23 yards, longest run of the day 3 yards. Even his own coach said after the game that New England was more physical and that they just pushed around Tampa Bay in the run game all day. It was like a completely different player than the kid early in the year breaking all those tackles, I'm a big Cadillac fan but he's just not been the same since he started getting the nagging leg injuries.

It's almost as if young RB's need to learn how to run in the really physical games you get in the NFL later in the season. Johnson was heavily criticized early in his career by Vermeil and now might be the best RB in the NFL. Of course to be fair neither KC nor the Giants are known for their defense, the Giants haven't been the same since losing Pierce their MLB. And Cadillac had to go up against a terrific NE defense in tough weather, even Dillon couldn't get 50 yards in 19 carries in the game.

JJ if he gets the PT, and he may not Green may very well punish him and not play him much, should have an easier time running against the Texans weak defense than he did running against the outstanding Washington defense.

And hopefully when the time comes to get the tough yards he'll fight a bit harder this time.

I'm sorry but that is complete and total B.S.

Maybe you need to re-think this post.
