Jim Jackson to Start Against Raptors
Posted: Nov. 21, 2005
J-Jax will get his first start on Tuesday night against Toronto.
(Andrew D. Bernstein/NBAE Photos) One of the biggest lessons Jim Jackson has learned in his 13-year NBA career is to always be ready for anything and he is hoping that philosophy pays off Tuesday night when Phoenix hosts the 1-9 Toronto Raptors at America West Arena (7 p.m. FSN AZ). Head Coach Mike D'Antoni will insert Jackson into the starting lineup in place of injured guard Leandro Barbosa. The Suns' swingman has dealt with inconsistent, and at times non-existent, playing time this season after coming to Phoenix in the middle of last season.
Barbosa suffered a Grade 2 sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee at the end of the first half in Saturday’s game at San Antonio and is expected to be out two to three weeks.
Jackson, meanwhile, has averaged 3.7 points and 1.9 rebounds in seven games this season, and registered two DNP-CDs (Did not play-coach's decision).
"Jimmy Jackson will come in, he’ll do a great job," D'Antoni said after Monday's practice.
