I'm better than Mulli!
i got into a debate the other day with a former roommate of mine from law school. guys a laker's fan, so take this with a grain of salt. we were talking about how the complexion of the series would have been different with jj in the game. a few of our nyc buddies agreed with me. the lakers idiot response to jj was, "if he can't guard duncan in the post than he won't mean a thing." which i knew was idiotic.
i proceeded to explain how he was our best possible double-teamer as he had more size than the rest of our mini-crew combined with the best recovery ability. i told him that he was our best bet at guarding parker. i told him that it allowed us to space our offense and hit our treys better. i explained that he was another player that could get his own shot, which is in short order on our team. he scoffed at it all.
now what did we see tonight . . .
jj hit the three ball. he scored 26 points. that was important.
jj took his man off the dribble and hit that amazing pressure-filled shot over duncan. big.
jj spelled nash at the point and we didn't fall apart. getting bigger.
jj's hard double on duncan forced duncan into a semi-pedestrian game of 15 points and not nearly as many passes out to open three point shooters or layups. huge.
jj's d on parker who had been lighting us up. parker finished with 13 points. he finished with 6 turnovers. enormous.
yeah, jj didn't have an effect on the game. he can't d up duncan in the post . . . right?
