Kevin Kolb looked sensational throwing the football during Sunday's practice for the Arizona Cardinals.

Then
Kevin Kolb threw well in the game, too. From the early looks, the Cardinals made a great move in trading for him.

Jeezus the hate that ensued after these tweets was typical Eagles fans.

on Doug / Wolf this am --

Clayton was talking about Kolb's throwing motion. Said Kolb told him that he did a bunch of core strengthening stuff this offseason. Clayton said that the added strength from that has resulted in a "more classic throwing motion" and Clayton said the ball is jumping off his hand.

I heard that. Said even the Cardinals coaches were surprised at how well the ball comes out of his hand.

Kolb's release is honestly superb. I was impressed with it in old Eagles videos, and even more impressed in the preseason game.

To me, Skelkton was very impressive. If he ever gets it mentally, he has all the tools physically. That ball gets out of his hand to the WR as fast as anyone I have seen in awhile.

Obviously judging from preseason is a bad idea 90% of the time, but it does feel like a complete 180 from how I felt last year. I would say last offseason even the most optimistic fan had a pit in their stomach based on the uncertainty of two rookies (one undrafted) and a dismal player in Dewreck Anderson rebounding.

I know i tried to talk myself into for about a day. Then I started hearing about training camp and watching preseason focused on DA and realized we woud be going to the rookies early.

This feels different. I see reasons to believe in both guys. I know many are pessemisstic in our defense and we can't say much about Horton till we see it in play. I don't know how much of a X's and O's guy he is. I do know Bill Davis, he is not.

But Quarterback is king in the NFL, and least so far so good.

This thread reminded me of something Warner said and that was brought to light with Kolb's throw to Fitz where Larry made that remarkable catch.

Kurt said it took a little while for him to realize that open for Larry wasn't open for other people. And once he did realize that he and Fitz really started to click.

Kolb said sort of the same thing about that throw. It could be that Kevin has already picked up on this and won't be hesitant to throw the football to places where only Larry Fitzgerald could catch it. That would be a huge plus for our offense especially early in the season.

The Raiders announcers said that after that catch they said Kolb told them he'd learned from watching larry and working out with him that he's "always open".

I'm cool with throwing to Fitz when he's covered well in single coverage...but the ball has got to be thrown better than Kolb threw it on that particular play.

I thought it could have been thrown a bit better, but it was a decent throw to me anyways.

Eerily reminds me of an ab-roller commercial I ran into over a decade ago. Featuring your ARIZONA CARDINALS!
Plummer said "I didn't know how much your abs can help in throwing the ball..." and some similar stuff.
I couldn't find it on youtube.

Yeah, he should take notes from Kurt Warner on those successful flea flickers he bombed to larry.

Close your eyes, huck it, and pray :D

Kolb and Skelton, that is some good stuff, and for years to come. That was one of the biggest selling points for me with Kolb. Tons of time left on the clock, and Skelton continues to impress me. I really dig this combo going into the future, makes me feel like we have one.

All he has to do is not overthrow Fitz and it is a good throw. Fitz has as good of a shot coming down with any ball as long as it is not overthrown.

I have a question. Kolb said he didn't know Fitz was going to squeeze the defender. That's a term I don't believe I've heard before. What does squeezing the defender mean?

That's basically what Fitz said after the game, wants Kolb to trust him enough to make those throws. If it's one on one and Larry knows where the ball is he doesn't let the defender know until it's too late. The 411. :)
