Personally, I am curious about what you don't like. I have liked his use of Diggs and Thielen along with how he has used Cook since he has been back. All of this done with an offensive line that is equally poor as ours is.
The Vikes are 7th in passing and Kirk Cousins is having his best season ever. This is his first season as OC for them to so I would think he is doing a pretty good job with stats like that.
I mean...just go look at the opinions from their own fanbase. Not outsiders of guys who like him, but only his fanbase. Twitter, Reddit, forums, etc. It’s been way more negative than good.

Also, what I’ve noticed is that he doesn’t run the ball as nearly as he should & his playcalling becomes quite predictable.
It’s also hard to be a bad passing team with Thielen & Diggs as your WR duo.

Kind of like how people were so excited for Wilks when he was DC and Carolina was running Rivera's scheme.

You want a genius offensive oriented guy for HC? Find the guy who is working under the defensive minded HC and whose offense feels innovative and is putting up gaudy numbers

Like Sean McVay (under Jay Gruden) or Doug Peterson (under Andy Reid)? How about Josh McDaniels or Charlie Whis (under Belicheck)?

If there were an easy way to do it, finding good head coaches would be easy.

Yup. I was just offering a view on how to approach it. There are always alternatives. I just don't really want Keim to be making the decision and have been saying all day the concentration should be on finding the right GM to move forward.

Thoughts on The Chipster?

At one point, the most innovative coach in college FB when at Oregon.

Was his first unsucessful foray into head coaching merely a speed bump that comes with making the transition from college to the pros? Or is he essentially "done?"

I have said it before and will say it again. Kliff Kingsbury. HC/OC. Just bring him on board. Lincoln Riley is the big rumor, yet K K has better credentials.

Texas Tech is run by morons. Fired Mike Leach and now Kliff Kingsbury.

Leach was fired because of off-field pressure. Kliff was fired because he’s a bad coach.

I am still on the DeFilippo / Todd Bowles bus. I don't know about Keim. I go back and forth.

I have thought about that exact combination as well, Chopper, and I would certainly be more than okay with it. Maybe throw in an experienced offensive coordinator like Mike Mularkey, Rob Chudzinski or Dirk Koetter when he is fired (just to name a few) to help DeFilippo. I think there are several other enticing combinations, but great job of coming up with one of them.

Kliff was a victim of having to recruit against

U Texas
Oklahoma
TCU
Okie State
et al
and that is only in the Big 12.

Patrick Mahomes came there because K K was the only school to offer a scholly as a QB. The rest wanted him as a DB.

Players he has tutored as OC/HC

Patrick Mahomes
Baker Mayfield
Davis Webb
Johnny Manziel
Michael Brewer
Case Keenum

Kirby Hocutt the T T AD is the one who should be fired. U of Miami had enough of him after 3 years and Hocutt resigned to take job at T T.

ESPN’s Bill Barnwell tweeted on Saturday that “some smart NFL team should go after Kingsbury as offensive coordinator.” In an article on Saturday, USA Today’s Cowboys Wire suggested that Kingsbury could be on a fast track to the Dallas Cowboys, a team that is rumored to be on the verge of firing their offensive coordinator Scott Linehan. In that article, Jonah Tuls — a reporter for Fox34 in Lubbock, Texas — nicely summarized why Kingsbury can be seen as a top NFL coaching prospect.

[Kingsbury] has a proven track record of developing quarterbacks. Also, he is a really good playcaller. With the way the NFL is going, I think more and more teams will be receptive to someone like Kingsbury as an offensive coordinator. Not all great playcallers are great head coaches, and that was the case [at Texas Tech]. He will have no problem garnering interest around the NFL, and that’s where I think his next spot is.

You could also argue that the Cleveland Browns or Arizona Cardinals — two NFL teams that have already fired their offensive coordinators, and also have promising young quarterbacks in Baker Mayfield and Josh Rosen — could be potential fits for Kingsbury. In the case of the Browns, there’s an obvious connection: Mayfield started as a freshman walk-on at Texas Tech before Mahomes was named the starter and Mayfield decamped to Oklahoma.

Would rather have John Harbaugh than those options. Maybe Harbaugh HC and Kingbury as OC? A DC I would love for ARZ to pursue is Brent Venables, that man has transformed defenses at every stop in his college career. Supposedly, this is the year he may be hired as a HC as he is rumored to be on Texas Tech's short list.

John Harbaugh won't be available.

Doug Marrone could be gone at Jacksonville.

I had the pleasure of watching Marrone turn around a horrendous Syracuse program. After stating that was his dream job, he up and bolted to the NFL (Bills). Doug Marrone is a pretty good HC, but what he really wants is the Jets HC position, which will be available. He's a disciplinarian, and good at turning around train wrecks. If Hackett doesn't get a HC position this offseason, he'll follow Marrone to NY. They have been together since Syracuse, so I'm sure that Marrone was forced to fire him.

How is Marrone a better option than Wilks (not defending him specifically)? He has a way more talented (playoff team last year) roster and completely tanked this year. They only have 1 more win than us.

That's what they said about Andy Reid.

Andy Reid was my pick when we hired BA. Still love BA though
However, I also wanted Buddy Ryan and Denny Green! :trout:

That being said, John Harbaugh or Mike McCarthy are similar to Andy Reid IMO (solid coaches that have a proven track record of success).

He wasn’t fired because he couldn’t beat Oklahoma and Texas. He was fired because he couldn’t beat Kansas St and Iowa St.

Based on what??? From everything I’ve seen Doug Peterson was the offensive genius in philly not Defillipo who had a generational talent to work with in Wentz? Don’t really understand the live around this bioard for him other then being an offensive coach...
Me neither.

He was in the AFC Championship game & had the Patriots on the ropes. Wilks could coach for a century & not win 5 games. Jax lost a ton of talent due to injuries. On top of that, Bortles was never the answer. They won last year in spite of him. Please don’t compare Marrone to Wilks.

Please read my last sentence, as I'm well aware of that. Knowing the relationship they have, Marrone was obviously forced to fire Hackett. If Marrone ends up with the Jets, which will be his dream job, Hackett will be his OC. Unless, of course, Hackett gets a HC gig.
