Does he have anything left in the tank? Worth bringing him in? I would love to have TBay's old tandem in our backfield.

Are you serious? Link?

Man, I got his jersey a couple years ago. He's an amazing player.

Oh, BTW, the Bucs are a team apparently interested in trading for David Boston.

Wow. This doesn't qualify as "BIH ICH," this is a "Sign Him Today" (SHT) situation.

TB is in deep doo-doo. At least 1 playoff spot is gonna be freed up every year. Gruden had an owner buy him a team in OAK. And in TB he took over a team built by Dungy and their GM. Both are gone. Gruden is a good coach he is not a team builder.

I think he was a perfect fit in Tampa because their pass rush allowed him to just hit people and not have to cover for very long. Put him on a team without that pass rush and he might be a very ordinary player.

I would not be surprised if he goes to the Jets. He loves Herman Edwards and Herman Edwards loves him. Lynch is the Godfather of Edwards' son.

He could also goto San Diego since he is from there....and he surfs

I don't know. He was also a very cerebral player and a good leader. I think that his effectiveness will be reduced without the monster pass rush, but his knowledge and leadership might be helpful on this team (and he's white!). ;)

I do have a hard time being objective when it comes to John Lynch as a player because I like him so much. He was never really a INT threat. That's partly because he has bad hands but also because when the Bucs played three-deep zones, it was Lynch that was blitzing, not playing deep coverage. The SS in Tampa's cover-2 is more of an assassin than a coverage threat.

I guess I'm mainly judging him from Stanford, and from the few times I've seen him actually cover someone instead of as you say blitzing and playing almost a LB.

At Stanford he was a touted QB who they converted to defense, could knock you out, but he got torched in coverage. Then he had great workouts and moved up the draft. I think the defense in Tampa just suited him to perfection but I'm not sure he can cover because he almost never had to do it with the Bucs.

He's very smart you're right there, and he's tough and could be a leader. And there's something to be said for re-teaming him with Dex. Just don't pass up Sean Taylor because of him!

He's going into his 12th. year and will be 33 in Sept. of this year. I don't see the Cards being interested in him.

The Tampa Cover-2 was designed to highlight three players (on each stage of the defense): Sapp, Brooks, and Lynch. Everyone else was almost interchangeable. Even then, the Bucs, as you said, kind of ran a 4-4-3, with only three true defensive backs.

I just like the guy and would like to see him in Cardinal red at some point. I don't want to pass up Sean Taylor instead of him, either, but I'm starting to feel like Taylor won't be a Card anyway.

I think that this might be one of those moves where the Bucs cut him for salary cap reasons and he'll be re-signed in time for minicamps.

He's a Cover 2 safety and he was never blazing fast in the first place. Cover 2 safeties play zone, double team WRs, and are like a 4th LB in run support. Lynch has a good 3-4 years left in him if he can take the hitting IMO.

He's been on of the most overrated players in the NFL for some time. I'd rather sign Deke Cooper.

(See Russ Smith's post. It perfectly mirrors my opinion of Lynch).

He reminds me allot of Tillaman when he was with the Cards. Could be the nice hard nose player we need back there.

The Lynch/Jackson duo did have pretty good success last time they were on the same team. It looks like the Bucs didn't even give him a chance to restructure his contract.

This might be an attempt to cheapen up the defensive side of the budget. Sapp and Lynch are big Buck earners. Cap unfriendly. Maybe both come back cheaper.

I also feel Gruden is inclined to build up the offense. They do have trouble scoring. Now if Tampa can swing some bucks over to the O side, they can have some balance. Sounds like a plan.

P.S. The Glazers are coach friendly owners.
