this makes zero sense. Is Gruden an offensive or defensive specialist?

Offensive coach. Monte Kiffin ran the Tampa D on his own and he went to Tennessee to coach with his son

There is some speculation that this was done to get Shannahan

so if haley goes to be a head coach somewhere else....just dreamin haha

Wow, didn't see that one coming. The Shanahan angle is interesting, tho.

Watch the Cowboys take him. He's probably the type of coach they need.

I would've given him another year. It was the run-D that cost them in the end, the only team not to romp them for at least 150 rushing yards in the final four games was the Chargers.

The timing is pretty awkward, with Tampa hosting the Superbowl in two weeks. I guess he can cancel all of the appearances he was gonna make as the host team's coach.

Aside from his first year, Gruden pretty much leveled off in terms of success so I could definitely see this. The Bucs are competitive and are normally good to hover around .500 or so, but they never took that next step for postseason. They got stale and needed a coaching shakeup.

Gruden has always come off as a cocky like dick IMO. I wont miss him at all. His looks and personality always reminded me of Scut Farkus from "A Christmas Story".

NFL owners are going nuts. Everyone of them thinks it is Super Bowl or bust. If there are 3 new HC candidates out there better than, Gruden , Shanahan and Cowher, I can't wait to see them.

It has become a player's and owner's ego league. Coaches have become pawns.

Well, isn't the name of the game to win the Super Bowl?

EDIT: Here is Gruden's tenure after winning the SB with Dungy's team his first year.

2003 season-no playoffs
2004 season-no playoffs
2005 season-1st round exit to skins
2006 season-no playoffs
2007 season-1st round exit to giants
2008 season-no playoffs after 9-3 start

I didn't know Raheem Morris is 32. That's crazy. I feel they should have made a DC and picked up someone else to head the team. I hope this isn't Marinelli pt. II.

So does this mean if we lose tomorrow we need to fire Whiz?:sarcasm:

Although, I'm sure there's a moron out there would suggest it. Good thing it's gonna be a moot point...

Wow. I didn't realize this. Sure makes him look overrated now, especially considering he rode Dungy's coat tails to the Superbowl his first year.

And both of those years he did make the playoffs, he lost the first game, and both were at home.

Take him Jerrah, take him!
