Steven Jackson seems to have pretty good feet, but the scouts are right in saying that he runs too "tall". He's really good, though.

I'll comment on Jones in another 2 hours.

Where did you see that? I saw the exact opposite report.

That's where the comparisons to Eddie George come from, I guess. I've seen it noted somewhere, but I could just as easily been thinking of someone else. I just didn't really see him "make himself small" when he was getting to the line like you see guys like R. Williams and even Marcel Shipp do. It seems like he kind of stands up taller.

But I don't know anything. Whatever. Trade down with Cleveland (Who is passionately drawn to Ben R.) and take him. I don't care. Take Sean Taylor.

A report is out there that says he runs to "short?"

The guy he reminds me of in terms of running style is ex Card Johnny Johnson. of course he doesn't have the attitude issues Johnson did.

That's my one concern with Jackson though, guys that run upright like that take more hits and tend to have shorter peaks to their career.

Yeah, guys like Clinton Portis, Terrell Davis, Jamal Anderson, and Barry Sanders always play(ed) with their knees really bent, so that they could make the quick cuts and turns and everything.

It is not so much about pad level to me as it is about how his knees are positioned. He just seems very straight-legged when he runs.

Look at the Kevin Jones video. We should draft this guy. He's perfect for Green's system. The video says he runs a 4.38 40. Damn.

If we do trade down w/ Cleveland, don't be so sure that Taylor will be there at #8. Many have him going to Detroit at 6 and I don't think Arthur Blank will let him go past him at #7, unless Roy Williams tears it up at the combine.

Jones vs. Jackson is moot anyways. Green is going to draft Clarence Farmer in Round 7 and coach him into his All-Pro potential talent.

Take a running back with our first pick ... a Jones out of a college in Virginia ... does he have "breathing problems?"

I'll take Brian Urlacher instead.

I like Jones more than Jackson but both have some "if's" and I dont know that either of them should be rated a top 3 pick.

Jones is a flat out speedster with size that can real off 60+ yard runs in a flash. The knock on him was his hands. I am not so sure he has bad hands, just that V-Tech didnt pass a lot of balls to their RB's.

Jones can also lay a shoulder into you and doesnt hesitate to do so. He can play physical but again has the speed and the second gear to pull away from most college DB's.

I like Big east football so I watch a lot of these games.

Maybe not, but if KJ runs a 4.38 this weekend, he won't get past Detroit at #5 or wherever. Wow. That video was really, really impressive. He looks like Clinton Portis, only bigger. He'd be really good in Green's system.

Sec: Look at the difference between the way Jones and Jackson run. If we were the Dolphins or the Raiders (now under Turner) or even the Redskins, I'd be with you on Jackson. But KJ's ideal for the Cards' new system. He's got moves on top of moves.

Agreed,

If Jones runs a 4.38 forty, start ripping up your mock drafts boys coz a new sheriff is in town!

If you ask me they're BOTH slow. At 35% buffered I went downstairs, bought a candbar, grabbed an icetea, and when I got back upstairs, it was at 67% buffered! I ate the candybar and it's only 76% now. We have a T1 at work so it's not like I'm using dialup or something.

Jones is a terrific RB, I think IF Green wanted a RB the deciding factor between the 2 would be hands, and I honestly don't know which one has better hands since Va Tech doesn't throw to Jones at all.

If he runs a 4.38 this week he will get Greens attention really fast. Hall and Jones supposedly both ran 4.38 in VT.

Yes but there is a huge difference in running a 4.38 at the combine and supposedly running a 4.38 on campus. I doubt either one runs that fast, but neither has to really.

Just dont run a 4.5 or greater

Maybe the Scouts is evaluating their height/speed ratio after Quan broke some rookie records.

ROTFLMAO!!!

This Jones does sound like a DG RB to me he loved super speedy RBs who can take it to the house.

Looks like everyone who went to Va Tech ran a 4:38.

Kevin Jones is going to be an enormous bust. Runners who dance behind the line in college get killed in the NFL. Whoever the sucker is that drafts this guy in the first round would be better off just signing Leeland McElroy again.

Can't break tackles, can't catch, dances behind the line, can't block and he puts the ball on the ground.
You've got to be kidding.

People, shake yourselves!!!
