Can't break tackles, can't catch, dances behind the line, can't block and he puts the ball on the ground.
You've got to be kidding.

People, shake yourselves!!!

It sounds like a Clinton Portis draft report when Portis came out of Miami. Sheesh.

I was talking this guy (Kevin Jones) up a few months ago.

He is an impressive physical specimen, who has put the work in to become one. When he came to Va. Tech, he was only 170-180 lbs. and he has put on all his muscle during his time at Tech.

I would be excited if we drafted him. Shipp isn't exactly a franchise back, and Jones has the potential to be one.

He looks like a bigger Portis to me in terms of speed and home run ability.

From The Sporting News (Much love to my boy Krang):

Jones, also a track star who was timed at 10.2 in the 100 meters in high school, split time with Lee Suggs (Browns) for two seasons before '03. He was slowed by the hamstring injury and had fumbling problems (five fumbles) in '02 but bounced back and proved capable of handling a full load in '03. He lacks experience as a receiver and is a bit of a finesse runner, but he clearly is the most explosive back in the '04 class. Much like the Vikings' Michael Bennett did as an underclassman three years ago, Jones could be a huge weapon as a rookie if placed in the right system. However, Jones is not a guaranteed NFL star. Jones is a mid-first round prospect who, depending on team preference, will be the first or second running back selected.

Emphasis added.

Mid first round prospect and maybe picked first...hmmm doesn't sound like we should be picking a running back then huh?

A good showing at the Combine and at his Pro Day might make him irresistable to Detroit, who will be reminded of Barry Sanders, who was also a back-field dancer.

I don't want a running back that needs a tailor made system.
I want a running back that gets the ball, doesn't drop it, hits the hole and scores.
Kevin Jones is destined to be Thomas Jones all over again (tentative, arm tackles, 53 steps to move two yards, etc.).

Tell me you didn't just compare Kevin Thomas Jones to Barry Sanders...

Have you watched Kevin Jones play this year?

The ONLY, and I mean ONLY knock on him is that they dont know about his hands because he doesnt get thrown to a lot. He can block, he is a speedster and has great speed. He is a true gamebreaker.

And yes he was clocked at 4.38 40. Will he run that at the combine? I doubt it, but it will be in the 4.4 range

I saw Miami, West Virginia and Cal, and I still think he's going to suck.
I don't think he's going to be alright, or average, I think he's going to bone fide suck.
