CBUS- give a honest opinion on Jamarco Jones...can he really play Left tackle in the NFL? I have noticed that he has been kind of under the radar behind McGlinchey,Connor Williams, Orlando Brown etc;.......
I've never thought of him as a very good prospect. He has some measurables but really isn't all that athletic and kind of is "just a guy". I could see him sticking around as a backup but he really has to improve if he's going to be any good in the NFL. He doesn't play with much attitude either. On the plus side, he did improve as a pass protector his senior year.

Throw me some examples of college QBs with <60% completion that became accurate passers in the NFL.

I'll give you two- Matthew Stafford and Matt Ryan, although Ryan was at 59.9% for his college career.

One thing to note about Jackson: if he had an average number of WR drops last year, his comp% would have been 62% which I think would have made a huge difference in perception right now.

I'd like to see accuracy stats for college QBs for passes > 10 yds, > 15 yds, > 20 yds and > 25 yds. Just sayin.

My top five in order are Mayfield, Rosen, Darnold, Lauletta and Rudolph

Intrigued by Jackson, would take a flyer on Ferguson or White

Do not want in any shape or form Allen, or Faulk

I agree with Buckybird that Rosen is the safest bet... yes, us Texans think alike :)

My unscientific eye tells me that as coaches work with players to adjust a lifetime of muscle-memory, along with overloading them with a byzantine playbook, and the psychological effect of NFL defensive monsters headhunting for paydays and ESPN highlight reels, makes their accuracy get worse, not better.

As you said, IF he can fix it.... I'm glad my career doesn't depend on it.

You are right about most of that post, Capital.

The one part, though, where you are not right is that the coaches will definitely throw a huge playbook at a rookie. That has changed. Previously it would be true, but the last ten years or so the coaches have become more willing to run the plays and systems that the rookie knows from college and thus is comfortable with. The idea is that though it is easier for the defense to defend, the rookie quarterback is also more likely to become a success early in his career, which would obviously benefit the team.

This is the main reason that Mike McCoy could win a playoff game with Tim Tebow, or that Cam Newton was a success from his rookie year, or that Blake Bortles was great as a rookie, or that Marcus Mariota didn’t have the anticipated problems when going from college to the pros, and the list goes on.

Sometimes the approach mentioned above works, sometimes it does not, but the important thing to know is that the coaches would most likely not make any rookie quarterback learn an enormous playbook right away.

Not that he seems to be much of a realistic option for the Cardinals, I think he would be a fine choice for them. I keep watching draftbreakdown.com tapes of him and I don't see a guy who's launching up scuds, just a guy who's on a really lousy offense. That line and those receivers are pretty bad. Put Allen at USC and it's a far different story.

His physical skills and size are obvious but what I like in terms of predicting how he'll do at the next level is Wyoming didn't have a clear advantage over it's opponents like so many big schools do. It looks like relative NFL situations when you watch his tape. He isn't forever standing in the pocket, no pressure and just choosing from wide open receivers. He seems to be dealing with what he'll have to be dealing with at the next level.

In terms of his passing, it seems fine to me. He does have the occasional head-scratcher but nothing so bizarre as to not have seen it from anyone else at times. I also didn't see a lot of poor decisions. It wasn't like he was constantly making poor/bad reads. From all of the talk, I expected to see a guy who was wildly erratic with his passes and his decision making but I never got that impression.

I see a guy with a great arm who was in a situation where he HAD to make plays and IMO, was trying to do too much. Take some of that responsibility off his shoulders and he'd cut down on the risky, low-percentage throws IMO. I think he's going to go real early now that I've watched him a little more.

Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield, and then Allen. After that, I would take Jackson, Falk, Lauletta, and then Rudolph. Any other order just doesn't make sense.

There's a saying that when people think alike, there isn't much thinking going on. :)

Not keen on Allen either
