I keep reading alot about how the team was foolish to go into the season with un unproven player at backup and how we should have signed a vet to backup Blake. So my question is are the following teams foolish?:

Arizona Cardinals - Jeff Blake-starter Josh McCown-3rd year

Jacksonville Jaguars - Mark Brunell-starter David Gerrad-3rd year

Oakland Raiders - Rich Gannon-Starter Marques Tuiasosopo-4th year

Tennessee Titans - Steve McNair-Starter Billy Volek-4th year

Atlana Falcons - Michael Vick-starter Doug Johnson-4th year

Dallas Cowboys - Quincy Carter-Starter Chad Hutchinson-2nd year

Detroit Lions - Joey Harrington-starter Mike McMahon-3rd year

New York Giants - Kerry Collins-starter Jesse Palmer-3rd year

SF 49ers - Jeff Garcia-starter Tim Rattay-4th year

ST Louis rams - Kurt Warner-starter mark Bulger-3rd year

About 1/3 of the teams in the NFL have 4 or lesss year players as thier backups, and some of the names on that list sure dont excite me. Course funny thing is often some of those non-exiting names come in and play when thier starter goes down and WOW! (See tom brady, mark bulger)

except the fact that Josh is in his second year and then take out the fact that Doug Johnson, Mark Bulger and even Mike McMahon and Chad Hucthinson have all had game experince and actually won football games. But besides that - yeah - great we have a backup qb that isn't ready to play three other teams up there - that's a good thing.

I'd rather have McCown back there then Tuiasosopo.

But was I the only one getting Jake flashbacks watching Josh lock onto a receiver and deliver a floating, oh so interceptable pass every time? And just like Jake he can't see Freddie Jones wide open in the middle of the field.

while thinking the game yesterday was a complete meltdown...Josh actually played better than I thought he would. I think we should have used him more on bootlegs and delayed qb running plays to set up the defense - next to michael vick - josh might be the 2nd fastest qb in the leaugue...he threw some bad passes..but it was really his 1st nfl experience...the mop up blowout stuff last season does not count. For his first game - I would give him a C. before we right him off..he needs to play in a few games.

Is everything
Josh looked uncomfortable planting his feet and threw some floaters. He reminded me of Jake ot there. But at least he wasn't horrible.
