I bet that they signed him to get inside knowledge of our gameplans, since we play Detroit this year.

Matt Millen, what a genius! :Dr.Evillaugh:

Josh is on Sirius right now and is really giving Kurt props for helping him last year. Kerwin and Ryan think he's better than Joey and Kitna and believe he is a terrific signing for Detroit. I don't agree, but we will see :)

Anyway, Josh is taking the high road and is a class act. Regardless of whether or not he will succeed as a QB, he succeeds highly as a human being. Nice kid and I hope he does well in Detroit.

I still think Lienart is taken at #2--maybe by the Saints, maybe by who ever the Saints might trade with.

Good Luck Josh....hope that Martz can help you be all you can be. We would not have given him $4mil this season to stay. I think we would only have offered a one year $2mil contract but that is just speculation.

I can see where you are coming from but they are not going to pay a guy a 60 Mill contract then turn around and draft a QB and pay him a 60 Mill contract as well.

Actually, the deal amounts to a 1yr/ 10m deal.

He is due a 12m roster bonus in 2007, forcing the Saints to either cut him, trade him, or restructure his contract, depending on how he plays.

One note to consider: How likely is it that Tom Benson will be able to move to San Antonio in 2007.

If it's his intention, the Saints take local hero QB Vince Young.
If not, they still might take Leinhart to build around.
Either way, I am pretty sure a QB will be taken at #2. 90/10

Lions | McCown signed to two-year contract
Thu, 16 Mar 2006 09:37:51 -0800

Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports the Detroit Lions have signed free agent QB Josh McCown (Cardinals) to a two-year contract worth $6 million. The deal will pay him $4 million in 2006 between his signing bonus and base salary.

Good for Josh. If Martz likes him, he sees something that he can develop in his style of offense.

I think it is pretty likely that somebody will trade with NO. Probably just Tennessee to guarantee that they get Leinart.

I think Oakland is taking VY. They don't have much money invested in Walter...and if Walter does play real well and win the job this year...then they can trade him for a nice price next offseason.

Cutler will most likely be on the board. Miami just grabbed Culpepper, they were a team that I could have saw trading with Buffalo if Cutler was still on the board. They more than likely won't.

I like Cutler and would be pretty happy.....but many others on here would probably just puke.

i don't think the titans are going to trade up for linart. i believe that the titans are more interested in jay cutler. the reason i say this is because teams like to get players that are close to home. since he played right their in nashville. it doesn't get any closer than that.

You think the Chow-Leinart thing means nothing??

You might have a point....he passed over Mike Williams big time....but then again Williams spent an entire year out of the game.

McCown was the best option we had as a backup! I am concerned now with what we enter the season with at QB. Do something Cardinals make a move we need another QB with some skill, as far as I am concerned we have only 1 on the roster.

The best part about this other than Josh going to a future opponent is that we never again have to talk about this no-talent McBenchwarmer.

Good luck Josh, but...?

How is this mess going to be played out: "He will become the fifth quarterback on the Lions roster, joining Harrington, Jon Kitna, Shaun King and Dan Orlovsky."

My guess is that he will become the starter over Kitna and Joey will be released with consideration to salary cap for value

I can't believe he got 4 mil for next year! What would we have to pay someone like Brooks to come in here?
