LAFAYETTE — Central Catholic and Rensselaer girls basketball each reached the IHSAA state championships in 1A and 2A in 2024-25.

The season as concluded and it's now time to unveil the 2025 Journal & Courier Small Schools All-Area team.

The top 10 players were voted on by coaches in the Greater Lafayette area which includes five first team members, five second team members and 17 honorable mentions.

Kamri Rowland​


Rensselaer, junior, forward

Numbers:
14.9 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 44% FG, 3.1 SPG.

Season: Rowland rose to the occasion during Rensselaer's first appearance in an IHSAA state championship. Rowland led the Bombers in scoring, rebounding, steals and was named to the IBCA Small Schools All-State underclassmen team and first team All-Hoosier Conference. Rowland scored 15 points or more in 20 games this season. Her season high 27 points and 14 rebounds came against North Judson on Nov. 9 and scored 16 points with 12 steals against Western on Jan. 24 and finished with eight double doubles.

Carley Barrett​


Central Catholic, senior, guard

Numbers:
14.2 PPG, 8 RPG, 6.2 APG, 5.8 SPG, 45% FG.

Season: Barrett on ball defense and leadership allowed Central Catholic to thrive and reach the program's fifth state title game. Barrett kept opposing guards sequestered and finished sixth in the state in steals. She recorded two triple doubles with 17 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals against Logansport on Nov. 12. and 16 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists against Fountain Central on Dec. 17. Barrett had six double doubles, scored 20 points or more five times and was voted to the ISBA Senior Small School All-State first team, All Hoosier Conference first team.

Taylor Van Meter​


Rensselaer, senior, forward

Numbers:
12.8 PPG, 3.8 APG, 5.2 RPG, 2.6 SPG.

Season: Van Meter was a strong source of offense on a Rensselaer program loaded with talent. Van Meter scored 26 points against Wester on Jan. 4 and 25 points against Kankakee Valley on Jan. 28. She had three double doubles including 17 points and 11 steals against Seeger. Her defensive presence and scoring were vital to the Bombers success in 2025. Van Meter was voted All-Hoosier Conference first team and ICBA Senior Small School All-State and is committed to IU Indy.

Carly Davison​


Clinton Central, point guard, junior

Numbers:
19.6 PPG, 45% FG, 7.2 RPG, 5.5 APG, 4.2 SPG, 81% FT.

Season: Davison continued to produce solid all-around numbers after Clinton Central lost a core group of seniors from the Bulldogs 2024 regional run and semi-state appearance. Davison was named to the IBCA Small School All-State list and recorded double figures in all 23 games during 2024-25. She recorded a triple double with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against Faith Christian on Jan. 17. Davison scored a season high 32 points against Pioneer and was named to the All-Hoosier Heartland Conference first team.

Grace Bordenet​


Central Catholic, guard, senior

Numbers:
14.8 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 2.6 APG, 2.6 SPG

Season: Bordenet's aggressiveness as a scorer paid off for Central Catholic. The 5-foot-7 guard displayed the ability to finish through contact near the basket and was an imposing ball stopper. Bordenet led Central Catholic with 21 points and 10 rebounds in a 68-54 win over Kokomo on Dec. 28 and posted a season high 28 points and 10 rebounds against North Vermillion on Feb. 5. Bordenet was named All-Hoosier Conference first team and IBCA Senior Small School All-State first team.

Carly Drone, guard, senior, Rensselaer

9.2 PPG, 5.8 RPG.

Sarah Zarse, guard, senior, Tri-County

14.2 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 4.3 SPG, 50% FG.

Piper Ramey, senior, forward, North Montgomery

16.9 PPG, 9.2 RPG, 2.7 SPG, 2.7 APG, 51% FG.

Ava Burkle, junior, forward, Rossville

15.8 PPG, 10.2 RPG, 3 SPG, 3 APG.

Courtney Matthew, sophomore, forward, Rensselaer

11.9 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 2.8 SPG, 45% FG.
