Junior outfielder Jace LaViolette entered this season as arguably the greatest power hitter in Texas A&M baseball program history and continued to cement his legacy this week.
"Lord Tubbington" crushed the 56th home run of his collegiate career on Thursday evening during an SEC matchup at Vanderbilt. With his sixth homer of this campaign, the certified superstar tied Daylon Holt as the Aggies' all-time leader in home runs.
Holt, who also wore No. 17 in the Maroon & White, played in College Station from 1998-2001.
LaViolette hammered a 2-run blast to right field in the top of the first inning against the Commodores.

"Lord Tubbington" crushed the 56th home run of his collegiate career on Thursday evening during an SEC matchup at Vanderbilt. With his sixth homer of this campaign, the certified superstar tied Daylon Holt as the Aggies' all-time leader in home runs.
“He's deserving of his accomplishments, and he’ll go down as one of the best A&M players in history, and he should. At least No. 17 is still the all-time career record holder for home runs,” Holt told TexAgs in February. “I introduced myself because I'm an old guy now. I was like, ‘You’re gonna break the career record, congratulations!’ And he was like, ‘Oh, I don't know. There's a long way to go.’”
Holt, who also wore No. 17 in the Maroon & White, played in College Station from 1998-2001.
“This is the 26th year that I've had the record, and it's been cool and great. It’s kinda part of it. Baseball is all for records, and records are made to be broken," Holt said. “The further you get away from it, you just realize how stupid that number was. To be able to hit 34 home runs in 70 games, you're up against Babe Ruth numbers and stuff like that with how many home runs per at-bats. It's just crazy.”
