Jennifer Garner to Star in Juno
Source: ComingSoon.net
January 19, 2007

Jennifer Garner's next project is the Jason Reitman-directed comedy, Juno, co-starring Ellen Page.

"It's this wonderful script that I have been waiting for to come together for the past year and when Jason came onto it, I was so excited," Garner said. "I'm so excited they asked me to be in it and I have a small role. I'm only working a couple weeks and it's just cool."

Garner added the the film was "written by this kooky woman named Diablo Cody. Have you ever heard of her? She just decided randomly to become a stripper for a year. It isn't about that but you could look her up. She's pretty funny. Anyway, her personality infuses the whole script so it's going to be fun."

The former "Alias" star will "play a woman who can't have children and is wanting to adopt."

Filming starts this February in Vancouver.

I really thought this this was a great movie and the story a nice change. My only complaint was the dialog. It seemed too forced at times.

Saw this the other night, pretty funny and some solid performances although it seems Michael Cera plays the same character in every one of his roles. And coming from someone who never watched Alias, I didn't realize Jennifer Garner could act.

Great movie.... saw it lastnight.

I loved when Michael and Ellen did the Moldy Peaches cover at the end of the film

That was one of my favorite parts of the movie :)

We got the soundtrack and I've listened to it a few times since...that was a nice moment.

They tried to be too hip IMO.

It's like every style of slang that was popular for the past 10 years was throw into this film.

Personally I didn't like it all that much and though it was overhyped.

It had funny moments. But overall it was too predictable.

I give it a 2 1/4 stars out of 5.

However, my wife absolutely loved it. Wants to go again and says she will purchase the DVD.

I didn't think it was predictable at all...even my wife and I both leaned over during it and said "I really don't know how this is going to end."

Saw it last night and it was great. I never knew Jennifer Garner could act either but I've seen 3 films in the last month where she has been fantastic...the Kindom, Juno, and Catch and Release. Looks like she is picking her roles a little better.

What, Electra wasn't the role of a lifetime?

Watched this over the weekend. Wow, absolutely fantastic. I loved this movie. Ellen Page was outstanding obviously, but the supporting cast was just as good. Great writing, great flow, great musical score. It doesn't get much better than this.

I just saw this movie and enjoyed it a lot. I do agree with the critiques of the dialogue. I have pregnant teens in my classes almost every year and it didn't ring completely true on that level. However, I did read an article that the person who wrote this screenplay literally came out of nowhere. (IIRC, she was a stripper or had something to do with porn.) The producers decided to NOT edit the screenplay and risk losing her unique creativity.

It's written by Diablo Cody, she was a stripper in Minneapolis for a while. The book she wrote about her experiences (http://www.amazon.com/Candy-Girl-Year-Unlikely-Stripper/dp/1592401821) was a success and it opened a lot of doors for her, including screen writing.

I'm not sure the purpose of the story was to "ring true" as much as it was to entertain using unique characters in a common, but still taboo, situation.

Oh, I agree with you. It was highly entertaining and I'd recommend it very strongly to anyone. (Well, besides my mom.) I mean Shakespeare's dialogue doesn't ring true anymore and his stories and characters are still awesome.

I saw this movie with my wife recently. It was great, funny, touching, entertaining--one of the better movies I've seen in a long time.

I give it 3.9 stars out of 5. It would have been 4.9 out of 5 except that I am so damned tired of teenage movie characters who are constantly flip, with perfect comedic dialog and timing, while grownups stand around being stupid. Sorry.... It's worn out.

I liked every single character in this movie EXCEPT Juno, for the above reason. Good story, funny characters, moved along pretty well and was entertaining.... except for the annoying title character.

Oh...... I thought the ultrasound scene was a bit too much as well....
