Man, some of you guys are jaded. I thought it was a great summer blockbuster popcorn movie. It has a great mix of action, humor, and suspense. Cracks me up when dudes complain that a dinosaur movie wasn't realistic.

True. I take it for what it is. It isn't a documentary so no worries about inaccuracy. Sit back & enjoy it as entertainment.

Hmm, not sure where I said "you have to hold the same opinion as me". I just want to figure out why your opinions never make any sense. ;)

Yeah, winking smilie and all, you're trying to fault me for not liking poor writing in a movie. We're not talking an old Ahnold B-movie cheese fest either. I didn't like it because of the lazy writing, which translated to the screen. It is not an incomprehensible opinion or anything. This isn't some opinion that doesn't make any sense.

I think the issue is you go into a summer blockbuster expecting an indie Best Picture nominee.

You can pretty much count on one hand the number of summer blockbusters over the past 5 years that match your lofty standards. I think it also can prevent you from having fun at the movies sometimes. And that's a shame.

Wife and I enjoyed it. Fun movie. It is going to continue to rake in money and the sequels are coming, no doubt. The director and main actor are already on board.

If not liking a chick in heels waiting until the T-Rex is five feet away to run and rolling my eyes at a kid revving up a jeep left in the jungle for twenty years is 'lofty standards', you must have standards in the gutter. Cripes, man, all I demand from a summer blockbuster is fun and a basic standard of decent writing. T2--boom. Guardians of the Galaxy--nice. Jurrasic World--not so much.

I totally get you stout.

It's like in San Andreas where the entire west coast collapses on these women who get buried in rubble, smoke, fire, dunked in water several times no to mention the blood sweat and tears but throughout the movie, the hair and makeup stays perfect! rofl It's just one of those things that takes me out of a movie because now I'm thinking; "Wait a second, wasn't she just on fire?"

I want any movie that is rooted in realism to atleast play by a few logical rules. I can suspend reality all day for a cloned killer dinosaur. I dont like to have to suspend reality for ridiculous plot holes, sloppy writing and insane scenarios like the ones you have pointed out or them bringing the freaking survivors families to the island with the killer dinos on it instead of evacuating everyone and doing reunions off site! rofl. Just silly is all I'm saying.

Yeah, it's like on that TV show Revolution. There they are, years after the fall of civilization, wearing makeup and designer clothes.

Saw this yesterday, it was mildly entertaining. We got a kick out of how the Park Manager lady managed to keep her high heels and lip gloss on through the whole ordeal.

I enjoyed Love and Mercy more a few days ago, not sure where the thread on that one is.

‘Jurassic World’ Beats ‘Avengers’ As The Fastest Pic To Cross $400M

http://deadline.com/2015/06/jurassic-world-inside-out-weekend-box-office-dope-1201448898/

Our sources this morning tell us that Universal’s Jurassic World crossed $400M yesterday with a cume of $403M-$404M. Universal hasn’t made it official yet. That makes JW the fastest to cross that mark ever at the domestic B.O., doing so in 10 days. It took 2012’s Disney Marvel’s Avengers 14 days. Sunday was just awesome thanks to Father’s Day when dads and sons take in action fare. Industry calculations show JW falling 2-3% from its $39.37M Saturday for a total of $38.2M-$38.6M. Weekend looks to be at $106.7M-$108.1M, which means that JW owns another record: Best second weekend ever, beating Avengers’ $103.05M haul. In addition, JW becomes the highest grossing title in the Jurassic Park franchise at the domestic B.O., beating the first installment which including its 3D re-release money made $402.45M. Even if Sunday dropped 5% from Saturday, JW‘s 10-day domestic cume is still past the $400M mark.

It didn't disappoint, thats for sure. I was a great movie and there is a reason it made so much. Everyone I talked to loved it too

Jurassic World Becomes Fastest Film To Reach $1 Billion At Worldwide Box Office

http://comicbook.com/2015/06/22/jurassic-world-becomes-fastest-film-to-reach-1-billion-at-worldw/

Jurassic World just became the fastest movie ever to cross the $1 billion global box offie threshold. The Colin Trevorrow-directed Jurassic Park sequel achieved the feat in less than two weeks, gobbling box office records previously held by Marvel’s The Avengers along the way. It took The Avengers 14 days to hit $1 billion, while Jurassic World reached it in just 10.

The family enjoyed it. Was meant to be a popcorn film and it was. Nothing great but yet still fun and enjoyable. Seeing the dinosaurs back on the screen was pretty cool.

I think the whole 'running in heels' was played up as part of the schtick. I mean, Owen mentioned it at the very beginning.

Seems like they were trying to channel Indiana Jones into Chris Pratt - right down to the vest and his wry humor.

I only saw the original, not 2 or 3, so I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Jurassic Park III just about cured me from wanting to see Jurassic World. If it is anything like III, I do not want to watch it.

I'm not sure what is so bad about Jurassic Park III? Sure, it's not iconic like the first one, but it's also not overbloated like the second. It's a straight "escape from killer dinosaurs" movie, and just on that premise alone, it's pretty good at what it does. The only problem with it was that it wasn't groundbreaking. There are really 2 things that set it apart from the other movies: 1) it's a straight action movie with very little moral ambiguity, and 2) it introduces the pterodactyls to the series.

Jurassic World is much more successful than the second movie as a sequel to the first. While not nearly as good as the first, I though World was tons of fun and pretty entertaining.

They filmed half of JP III without a script. They literally just filmed some pretty accomplished actors as they pretended to be chased by something until the rewrites were done. Then what did we get? Talking raptors?

Agree Chap. I thought III was entertaining. I hated the second one and it's the worst by far IMO. These are popcorn films not documentaries.

IMO, the lead characters acted dumb. If it were played a little more seriously I might have enjoyed it. As it was, it was almost comical to me. What do they say, bad drama is comedy.

Not following. Creating dinosaurs and trying to make a zoo out of them was dumb. Creating a tour without a real way to guarantee they would show on a tour was dumb. Splicing DNA without realizing the consequences was dumb. Sending your grandchildren out for a test run was dumb.

There is even more of that and then some from the first film which many people believe was the best. If I went to go see many action adventure movies based on the intelligence of the characters.....I may never see a move again.

So? Do you think it would have been improved? They set out to make a certain type of film, and they accomplished it, script or no script. These aren't a bunch of teenagers with a consumer Sony Hi-8 camera.
