I was listening to those two guys on my way home. MJ just put out a teaser that by the end of the week, he might have some information that Dockett will be a Cardinal for a "long, long time".

He said contract negotiations are progressing well and that he should have something to announce, possibly as soon as tomorrow.

There is your daily good news. You may now go back to discussing the QB situation.

It would make sense.
The FO needs some good PR right about now.

I've been hearing this BS for months & months & months!!! Reality says DD isn't getting anything until a new CBA is done.

Good PR move, dump Leinart and sign Dockett to an extension to soften the Leinart move.

Why would you need to soften any blow? We're dumping a non-productive crybaby who doesn't put in any extra effort off the field and extending a bonafide Pro Bowl player who's leads by example. This is what good franchises do. The mistake that's going to require some PR was going into the season with only Leinart and Anderson.

I'm in no mood to mince words. This organization gave Matty a lot of money and for the most part he treated the experience like it was USC East.

Matt had every opportunity to be the starting QB here in Arizona. It's nobody's fault but his why he's on the trade block.

This is excellent news. The sooner Darnell Dockett gets done, the sooner the FO can move on to Larry Fitzgerald or Deuce Lutui.

Not accurate, every story over the past couple of offseasons Had matt working with Brady and Palmer, staying late to watch film, etc...

Bash the guy all you want, but at least bash him for truthful issues.

You have not been hearing this for months and months and months. You have only heard they started talking about a contract as of the start of training camp. This is completely new info that the negotiations are progressing very well. A report I tend to believe because Dockett is one player Jurecki has the ear of, they regular text and talk to each other.

I just want this thing to happen by tomorrow. I haven't bought my new jersey yet since I retired the Boldin one. Have been waiting for a possible Dockett extension to help make my choice, if he did sign the extension before the season then I was going to go with Wilson. But I want my new jersey to wear at the inaugural black jersey game this Thursday.

Not true.

2006 he took over for a struggling Kurt and had a decent rookie season (for a cards QB).

2007 he went out with an injury

He was neck and neck with Kurt during their 2008 competition up until the famous oakland game. (3 ints; how many times have we seen Kurt do that). Kurt won because he turned into the Lazarus of quarterbacks.

For all intents and purposes, he really has had only one opportunity. And there is no shame in losing to a future HoF QB.

So if Dockett gets a new deal tomorrow when do you think he will ask the Cards to shread it and give him a new one after that? Week 6?

probably will.

With Docketts new deal coming .does this now mean the Cards will have a defense that won`t give up 90 points in 2 games? A defense that can stop somebody in a crucial situation? A defense that doesn`t let the other team back in every game? A defense that shows up every week and plays the whole game? I sure as hell hope so.............I expect Pro-Bowl type play every game from Docket and pals.
