Oh man. Now I'm getting pumped up. Get it done!!!!

Yeah this would be huge. And good timing for the team if the rumors of Matt shipping out are true. As divided as the fan base is on Matt and DA this would surely be something that would distract all of us.

I was listening to those two guys on my way home. MJ just put out a teaser that by the end of the week, he might have some information that Dockett will be a Cardinal for a "long, long time".

He said contract negotiations are progressing well and that he should have something to announce, possibly as soon as tomorrow.

There is your daily good news. You may now go back to discussing the QB situation.

This is indeed good news and to me overshadows the Matt thing if it is true. Dockett is one of the best at his position in the NFL. Dockett or Matt as someone who can make a difference? Without a doubt Dockett is a difference maker. He is one big bad mean dude who is an all pro at his position.

He better be a difference maker every game.Every freaking game.No plays off .no letting other teams come back.Every freaking game.

Anyone think Dockett's looked pretty average in the preseason? I know it's just preseason, but I expected him to come out with his hair on fire, even if it's preseason.

I think you answered your own question with the bolded statement. Im not worried about nine-0 in preseason. He has the ability to flip the switch during regular and post seasons

Well, they'd better get a deal soon.

They maybe paying a hell of a premium to keep him in AZ after what could be a very poor win-loss record this season.

probably will.

With Docketts new deal coming .does this now mean the Cards will have a defense that won`t give up 90 points in 2 games? A defense that can stop somebody in a crucial situation? A defense that doesn't let the other team back in every game? A defense that shows up every week and plays the whole game? I sure as hell hope so.............I expect Pro-Bowl type play every game from Docket and pals.

Dockett is our only likely pro bowl player on the defensive line. You got to keep your best who may be the leagues best at his position. Of course he cannot be the whole defense but you got to start somewhere. We are a better team with him than without him. I continue to say he is a difference maker. You do not get them very often. I am more concerned about him than Matt vs Anderson. I know what Dockett can do and have no idea how Anderson or Matt will perform other than neither will be a Kurt Warner who was a difference maker extraordinary and a future hall of fame player.

I saw him getting triple-teamed against the Bears' starters Saturday night. You can expect Dockett to beat a double-team, but if he's getting triple teamed you have to depend on Campbell or Robinson to make a play.

I can see that. I guess I expected more of a push from the front 3, but maybe that's why Haggans has looked like a man possessed. I'm a little disappointed that Dan Williams isn't starting at this point, or at least Gabe. Robinson brings precious little to the table at this point.

Meh. I think that it's Joey Porter who's holding back. You'll see him engage with the LT and push him eight yards into the backfield and just hang out. He doesn't have anything to prove in the preseason.

You shouldn't ever expect to get pressure with just the front 3. If you do, it should be a pleasant surprise. There are 5 OL plus chips from TEs or backs to block 3 rushers. Maybe a coverage sack here or there, but not pressure. Even 3-4 Ds rush 4 the majority of the time; the question is who is the fourth guy going to be?

Hint: It's Adrian Wilson. :D

I'll bury this in this thread: Bob Kemp mentioned last week that when he was watching practices he noticed that there were times when the Cards were lining Daryl Washington up at OLB and just getting him after the quarterback. I don't know if this is bad news for Cody Brown (who's had a very quiet preseason) or if they're just looking to see what he can do as an edge rusher.

Urban specifically stated that Cody Brown is in the spotlight this week. That he must show something.

Or Kerry Rhodes or Daryl Washington up the seam... ;)

Yeah...as a 2nd round pick, he's looking dicey to make the team. A FREAKING 2nd ROUND PICK!!! It's great they keep finding talent later in the draft, because a lot of high round picks have ended up being major busts. Roberts is certainly on that path.

This team swings for the fences way too much on the second day. But overall though I can't really complain about the drafting, that and Whiz changing the culture of losing are the biggest reasons we've been successful. Half of your picks aren't going to hit no matter how great your scouting is.
