While we KNOW that this team is NOT the same 'ol Cards teams of the past... We KNOW this team is far better coached and loaded with more talent across the field than any other team in recent or distant memory... They do still wear Red & White with a cute little red bird on their helmets... So, in typical Cardinal fashion, we lost a game yesterday in a manner few, if any other teams have ever done. 99 yards... Three converted 4th downs... a tipped pass that in virtually all other instances is either intercepted or falls incomplete, but instead is caught for a big gain. 18 plays... 2:37 seconds consumed to go the entire length of the field... Seriously, when was the last time, if ever, a team has lost in that fashion?? I honestly can't recall one...
So, just how different is this Cardinal team from all others? I think we know a loss like this would ordinarily put a Cardinal team in their historical funk for the rest of the season... However, today we sit atop the NFC West, with a 2 game lead on the 9ers. Does this Cardinal team somehow bounce back and shed the legacy of losing, of falling short, of putridness... and win the west? Or, does this loss represent what it's been about for this franchise over the vast majority of their history? A full-blown derailment...
What say you??
