Wasn't the point of the thread to get people's opinions? You got Shane's, and now you're giving him crap for it because he doesn't agree with yours? You can't ask for an opinion & then get argumentative when you get it.

"What's your favorite ice cream?"
"Rocky Road."
"What??? Rocky Road??? What the hell is your problem? How can you not see mint chocolate chip is better?"

See my point?

Oh, and Shane's not "screaming". Opposite, actually.

Because we still have a 2 game lead in the division with 5 to go and are in complete control regardless of that loss or a loss next week if it were to happen. So it isnt devastating at all.

I agree. Not much different than the loss to the Giants last year. More devastating for the furniture around our Televisions than anything.

Plus it just evens things out with the 49ers who lost in sort of a similar fashion when Farve threw that miracle pass to beat them at the last second.

There's debating one another's opinions, and basically telling someone their opinion is wrong. It's an opinion--there is no right or wrong. You just seem to be very aggressive over a differing opinion.

And yes, mcc ice cream blows.

"Aggressive"?? How so? I asked Shane how we can no today that yesterday was not a devastating loss... The crack about his head in the sand isn't aggressive... it's just a fact. :p

How can we know now that it is a devastating loss then, by your logic? Clearly you think it is and are wondering about the severity of the devastation.

It wasn't devastating..not in the least.

Donald, I said we should be able to better answer this question after the Monday Night game. That's my opinion. Should we lose to the Vikes and the 9ers (it will be telling to see how we play in each of these games), I believe we will be able to point back to yesterday's loss...
But I just don't see how a fan can definitely say today that the loss was absolutely, positively not a devastating loss...

For the record, I voted that we will lose to the Vikes and still win the West. Which means I believe that this team is different and that they will get over the loss yesterday. I hope I'm right...

I didn't think it was a devastating loss yesterday. It sucked, was a gutpunch, but easy to recover from. This is a good football team with a defense that needs better cover in the secondary. It's not a great team. It's good, but it has holes. We'll lose games.

I voted we'd lose to the Vikes, but I can just as easily see us beat them. It could be one of the games where we get three picks (favre hasn't been picked much this year) and win, or where we get lit up...no clue. Regardless of that outcome this is a good football team that will win the west. No doubt in my mind. The TN loss isn't devastating...it's just a close loss.

A loss isn't always a "loss" Donald. They are not all the same. They are not all created equal... You can ask any professional athlete: "is there a loss or losses that stand out to you more than others", and to a person they will be able to instantly describe one or more in vivid detail.
I am very confident that years from now, Dockett, Wilson, Rolle, Dansby, Hayes, Hightower, Fitz, Boldin, etc... will reference this game as one of the toughest losses they ever experienced as a professional. Same for the coaches.
The question comes back to - will this team be able to shake this loss and not let it have a negative impact on the rest of the season. I believe that Whiz and his staff have the ability to make that happen. However, I would not at all be surprised if this team did in fact suffer a major hangover from this game - mentally and physically... How severe? Would it cost them the Division crown? As I have said several times now... we should be able to answer those questions on December 15th...

Listen there is no way you can say that loss was devastating regardless of what happens in the future. If we lose next week and the niners win and we go into that game and lose to the niners thsi game was still not devastating. The devastating game will be the 2nd loss to the niners with all the marbles on the line. Not this one.

I simply disagree... a loss like yesterday is the type of loss that can be just that - devastating. It can haunt a team for an entire season. We gave as good as we got yesterday - physically. Still, our guys came out of this game physically beat up. On top of a very, very emotional loss - this is exactly the type of loss that can ruin a season. I hope I'm wrong. I hope that Whiz and Co., along with the players who are leaders on this team can rally the team to overcome what transpired yesterday. It won't be easy and if they can do this... if they can overcome the loss and go on to win the West, I think this team will have gotten over a major hurdle and passed a serious test of character. I think passing that test will make them an even more dangerous post-season team than they were last year.

The worst loss of the season was the Niners game. It hurts far more than yesterday, and it is the one that will truly bite us in the butt if we don't win the division. And, it could cost us in conference record for the wild card.

Remember, as badly as we struggled that game, we had the ball inside the 40 with three minutes to go. Two penalties later, it was first and 25 and it was over with the way the line was protecting and Warner was passing. It was set up on a tee for us to steal it, and we whiffed.

I would be willing to bet all of my A$FN money that the players and coaches will say yesterday was the toughest loss of the season. Yes, the 9er loss hurt, but it was the first game of the season... with 15 more games to avenge that loss, I really don't believe you can say it was the toughest/"worst" loss... Had we won yesterday, the 9er loss would have been virtually inconsequential. And, with 2:37 left in the game, with TENN pinned on their own 1 yard line, we were THAT close to winning the game.

toughest and worst are 2 completely different animals. Yesterdays game far tougher. But the Niner loss is far worse in the grand scheme. Inter divisional/conference loss. It is not even close as to how much worse it was. Game 1 is justcas important as game 16.

And, had we won that first Niners game, yesterday's loss would've stung a lot less. We'd still be four games up instead of only two. Division games are always way more important than the interconference games. Yeah, i guess it might have been more emotional at the end, but more devastating? They'd have to pretty dense to think that. IDK, I wouldn't put it past them I guess. :)

What is this fascination with this loss?

I think it was tougher on the FANS than the players, that last drive was agonizing because once they crossed the 50 it started to have an air of the inevitable.

Huh? You seem to be pretty savvy on this board, perhaps you can find that post? I've said some things for sure, but I can't recall ever saying 6 wins this season... My memory isn't what it used to be, but at worst I believe I was going 7 wins...
