Or Blalock. (Sexson will cost us too much to get and keep.) But E Mesa Trib has this obsessive thing for Hillenbrandt.
National media, whatever it's worth, say Boston has made this offer a couple times and the DBacks haven't even sniffed at it.

I don't see anyway Texas is going to trade a kid that is only 22 and hitting...

AVG .354
HR 7
RBI 28

I like Blalock, as he turned out to be a nice pickup for my fantasy team, but this is only his second year and he's hitting the crap out of the ball right now...they keep saying he'll come back to Earth sooner or later.

That would be the conventional wisdom since most often "they" do ... but go back in time, and you will find the same type of punditry for Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Willie McCovey, and a ton of others...

Pretty big names to be throwing around when we're talking about a second-year, 3rd baseman from Texas...but still, you're exactly right...that's how those guys started off too.

Blalock's not moving. Sexton would be really hard to pry away, as well. My money would be on Lowell, but I just can't see this team adding a 3rd baseman while Matt Williams is here. Because of this, they'll probably end up getting a 2nd rate right fielder.

Could they possibly get V Guerreo from Montreal?

I definately dont want Hillenbrand, but Matty just keeps getting worse and worse. When hes not swinging at sliders away and down in the dirt he is making big errors in the field. That double play he botched tonight could have been a lot worse. Im pretty sure he made an error last night, and who can forget his attempted bunts. I cant wait til Counsell gets back.

Hillenbrand is not the answer. The Diamondbacks have Chad Tracy playing in Tucson and he will be the starting third baseman next year. The Diamondbacks need to get a power right fielder and then platoon Bautista and Finley in center.

I only mention Blalock because Sportsweekly suggested that Texas is SO high on Teixeira that they think when he is ready, Blalock will be considered for trade potential. The one thing Texas really needs is a starting pitcher.

Also, I keep hearing little mumblings that there is someone in the pipeline in our minors who may well eclipse Tracy at third in a couple years, but I can't at this moment think who it is. Tracy continues to bat hot, however, and after his little flurry of 4-5 errors in a couple games 2 weeks ago, he has been fine again.

My worry is that Matty will actually manage to stay healthy all season. (oooh!oooh!- bad Karma!!)

Myers isnt doing bad, but hes switched to first. The two people i can think of are Brian Barden and Sergio Santos. Both were taken last year, Barden out of Oregon i believe and Santos of course was our first pick. Hes a SS right now but many scouts believe he will grow out of the SS position. Santos isnt doing too bad, hes still only 19 in high A and is batting clean up, pretty impressive. Hes batting .280 with 1 HR and 23 RBI in 39 games. HIs OBP is .398. From what ive heard power will definately come to this kid. Barden, in AA is batting .327 with 2 HR and 27 RBI in 42 games. OBP of .377.

Stupid stupid stupid. I keep hearing Joe Jr. has said no to Boston on that one repeatedly. BK is worth so much more, if indeed we trade him.

From Peter Gammons on ESPN.com:

The Diamondbacks admit they need a right-handed bat, but can't afford Mike Lowell because they are already spread thin between payroll and deferred contracts. So there is renewed speculation that they might reconsider their stance on a Byung-Hyun Kim-Shea Hillenbrand deal. After all, Arizona's 3.38 runs per game on the road beats only Detroit.

NO NO NO!! Didn't Joe Jr. learn anything about "trade value" from the Dessens-Durazo deal? I would rather watch us play out the season with who we already have rather than giving up BK for anyone short of Vlad Guerrero!! :D It sucks watching us play sub .500 ball, but I don't want to trade away a valuable commodity for anything less than equal value, and Shea Hillenbrand is not equal value to BK!!
