OK fine.. We'll see..

Im a a believer in trade up, let Marion help us get role players to win..

But if if seem to think we need to build Team USA (a team that never wins) and we finally win.. I'll admit Im wrong..

My only goal, as all of yours is to win it all.. Imma Suns fan..

I just seen this blueprint before and the sturture has crumbled...

No we didnt.. We gave up nothing besides Horaceck.. We built a core with KJ, Chambers and Marjle.. But this is the point Im making.. That year we had role players.. then what happened? we got greedy and went crazy trying to get superstars.. Why you think Barkley wanted to come here? Then why you think Barkley forced his way outta here?
What susperstars are you on about? As many have said Wayman was never even close to being a superstar. I wouldn't call Manning one either (if you're not counting Billups, Ben Wallace, Tony Parket etc). Right now we do have some big players, but thats just how it worked out, Amare and Marion grew into all-stars, nobody thought Nash was going to be as goo0d as he was so its not like we went after an MVP there.

I see what you are saying, but if we just trade Marion for role players and even trade up, we are worse next season, not better. That is my opinion. Marion allows this team to do what it does. The only acceptable return for Marion is KG, if the Suns are concerned with winning now.

I'm on board for getting KG so long as we don't give up Amare. Swapping Amare and KG makes us slightly better in the short run, but we'll regret it later. I really think KG, Amare, and Nash will dominate the west. Especially if Barbs finds his shot again, because he'll be getting a lot of open looks on 3s. The only thing that worries me is depth. If we have to give up KT, #24, and #29 as well as Marion who the hell is coming off of our bench? Burke? Eh....

It's not like your replacing KG with a small forward stiff. We are talking about replacing him with Marion who is a legit all-star. So to say that swapping KG for Marion makes us a ton better is stupid. Having said that I do think he makes us better and does get us closer to a championship. How close? I think it puts us over the top. Especially if we can sign someone like Grant Hill and still manage to draft a young player.

No off season scenario for the Suns is a lock but at least they trying something. Trading away Marion for essentially picks without getting a proven All-Star to replace him would be a disaster in any case. The odds of finding someone to completely replace Marion in any draft is like playing the lotto. You COULD get lucky but you won't. The Suns then take a step back.

I haven't bothered with the whole thread, but the premise that "stars" like Penny and Tinsdale are superstars is a bit much.

The real problem with getting true superstars is that there are so few of them and it is hard to do without gutting the team and creating an impossible financial situation. But if you can trade a start for superstar without gutting theam, then you do it, especially if they cures key weaknesses in the team.

I really dont think KG will bring us a title.. If he comes here I hope to be proved wrong.. But lets take a look back at all the championship teams in the past years..

Duncan - no one else..

Pistons - who was the dominator?

Kobe/Shaq - Won some, lost some without Shaq..

Ok whats the prevailing trend here? All them teams had role players, not loaded with superstars..

Now whats been the Suns MO? Overloading the roster with superstars.. Wayman, Manning, Kidd, Penny etc etc..

Im more in tune with giving up Marion to trade up in the draft to get a good player.. Not this KG crap.. Im not convinced KG can do anything for us..

But I will gladly eat all my words if we get KG and win.. I just dont see it happening..

Who beat us in the Finals last time we were there? Paxson.. Not Jordan or Pippen..

I dunno.. we'll soon find out one way or the other...

But I beleive theres a reason coaches like Belichick and Popvich win titles..

Lets hope Kerr knows it as well..

you are stretching so badly to make a point that it's ridiculous. you're gonna say "no one" to the spurs and call wayman a superstar? lol. yeah, tony parker, finals mvp, doesn't compare to wayman tisdale in terms of superstardom, does he . . . sheesh.

and you lose any little credibility you had when you say paxson beat us not jordan or pippen. paxson hit ONE shot of consequence. sheer ridiculosity.

Thats awful, trade Marion, a multi time All Star, an extremely versatile defender, for a rookie? In what way does that increase the Suns chances of winning this year? Sure someone like Noah may be great, but by the time he is, Nash will be in a retirement home.

throwing Manning in there doesn't really help your case either, considering that more than halfway through his first season, we had far and away the best record in the league at 38-10, on the way to 65 wins. Too many superstars didn't hurt us that year, Manning BLOWING HIS KNEE out and leaving us with too few superstars did.

It's crazy not to want a KG-Amare duo with Nash at point. We'd still be able to have some role players in there like LB, Raja, Grant Hill??? and if we pick up Noah or sign a PJ Brown or something. We would dominate with that trio and win at least 1 championship. We may not have a very deep team, but we'd have easily the best team in the league.

It is also important to be sure about the "fit". Assuming Iverson is a superstar (I don't, but that's another story); it's still not clear that he's a good fit on a team that has Anthony.

Stars or not, the players have roles to play. The USA team suffered from too many guys with the same types of skills.

IMHO, KG would be a good fit to play inside with Amare. On offense, KG has great range on his jump shot, is a great passer, and is great on the offensive boards. He'd give you everything that Marion gives (short of leak outs) and everything that KT gives and everything that Diaw gives - at the same time.

How many times has he been voted defensive player of the year?

KG would fit perfectly. The only downside is if the price is too high.

I stopped reading the original post when "Waymen" and "superstar" were mentioned in the same sentence...
