You can speculate all day long. If this happened , what would the Giants do, what would San Deigo do. The thing is the whole draft would have changed. The jury is still out on Eli, but is not out on Docket, or Dansby. Infact we had 4 starters that filled important spots, if we ended with Eli, we would have filled one spot maybe.,You know the old joke if my father had b.... he would have been my mother. I'm glad we won that game it was great to be in the stands when that pass went up, it seams like it still floating up there someplace. Mccown is running for his life escapes goes wide right and throws up a prayer, and the man who ends up in with a key to a city , their most celebrated person on earth is our very own WR Poole. I guess the irony will be that nothing ever Happened again for Poole and he most likely wont be on a team this year.

Plus we now have Warner who clearly outplayed Eli last year anyway.

What exactly is the purpose of this...

Are we so lacking of forward thought that we must DIGRESS to the seasons past to find out why we are where we are?

Give it up...it is a new era and for the first time since the Cards came to AZ we have a REAL HEAD COACH and not a cheap imitation. Let it ride to see what DG produces in a 2-3 year timeframe and MOVE ON.

The GOAL is the PLAYOFFS in '05 and the SB AT HOME in '08!

There are a million things I wish I could go back in time to change with this team since they came here, but that would not be one of them. If I can get over the pass on Lefty(or even Suggs for crying out loud) and trading the #6 to draft BJ and that #97 guy, surely you can let this go.

He did. Yet few on this board wanted him last year when he was a free agent.

And IMO the Cards take Fitzgerald if he's available no matter where they pick.
Part of the compensation package to get Green to Arizona.

Contrary to many of you I like playing coulda, shoulda, woulda, on message boards. It's no different than the who would you pick if....threads.

Again it's not about tanking a game. I'd never want that. I enjoyed the feeling of bouncing the Vikings. It's just if we had lost that game, we would be in a better position today. The reason I brought it up was that it was a point of contention after the game. We would still be reaping the benefits in this years draft.

Part of it is that the Cards have always managed to find a way to do something that costs them the opportunity to get a leg up. They managed the 1 play that cost them that opportunity. They made up for it by landing Green, but if they would have lost they could have had additional picks for Green to work with. He did absolutely great with the picks he had, but I'm sure he would've loved to have had more just like he wants more now.

Wow. There are so many better what if questions in history that could be asked..

What if Robert E Lee had been able to defeat Meade at Gettysburg? Would he have been able to capture DC or Balitimore, thus ending the war?

What if the flag guy on the lead British ship had put up the right flag, signifying the correct orders, when battling the French Fleet off the coast of America in 1781? Washington would never have been able to trap cornwallace at Yorktown..

What if Virginia had successfully voted to emancipate their slaves in 1832?

What if Hitler had allowed the Germany Army to destroy the British and French force at Dunkirk in 1940, rather than relying on his Air Force? Who would have faught the Italians and Germans in North Africa?

Yet we still talk about that one game. Two receivers left and right, McCown with the ball, fires into the endzone... Touchdown! NO!

That's because if we want to get into your other questions we can just read a Harry Turtledove novel.

Instead of "The Guns of the South" -what if the South had won the war! We could have "the Sons of the South End Zone" - What if the Cards had lost to the Vikings.

What if the Cardinals would have hired Bill Belichek and let him have control of the franchise?

What if the Cards had drafted Jonathan Ogden instead of Simeon Rice and then Tony Brakens instead of Leland McElroy in the second in 1996?

The last game shouldn't get more emphasis just because it's the last game. There were many ways we could have gone 4-12 that year, and this was just one of them. There were two other games we lost by 3 points.
