Ok here's the problem. Everybody on this board would probably agree with this statement but their definitions of "win" fall into 2 categories. About half would define winning as making the playoffs, advancing in the playoffs and being consistently in the hunt. The other half would define winning as winning titles. To the second group everything else is irrelevant. If they don't get their Phoenix Suns championship coffee mug then it was a losing season. Period.

If you really think (or even just say, which is probably closer to the truth) that winning Championships is about a coffee mug, no wonder you don't understand.

Remember, the word fan CAME from fanatic. It has since taken on a meaning of it's own. Out here in the west, fans show up late, leave early and oftentimes bail at the first sign of trouble. In California, for example, I'd wager there are a hundred Lakers fans for every Lakers fanatic. It may not seem that way when they're winning but it's a different world when they're mediocre.

If winning a championship is the ONLY criteria for success, then it makes sense to tank a few years in order to get high lottery picks. Deliverately tanking does not always work, but it is hard to get to the inals without great players.

Of course, if tanking was the answer, then the Clippers should be great.
