larger version of Jake Plummer with a stronger arm?

Scares the crap out of me for us to take a QB like Mahomes that is described as "needs work" prospect. It's great that he can throw a ball 65 yds. on his knees, but this is no punt, pass and kick competition.

Many "experts" have penciled in Mahomes as the Cards pick.

I don't know.

We're just simply not going to have a chance to take a guy who doesn't "need work" anytime soon, unless this team absolutely crashes. If Arians and co. are truly "QB Whisperers," as is frequently said, take a guy with the intangibles and skills and make it happen. It's not like his accuracy was bad in college and we're looking to completely remedy that (unlike Logan Thomas), it's that he's unorthodox. So is Philip Rivers.

And no, I'm not calling Mahomes Rivers, but all that matters at the end of the day is that he gets the ball where it needs to be.

I am a Mahomes fan. I think most on this board have never seen him play and are basing their opinions on youtube cutups and "expert opinions".

What I see is a sandlot improviser with nearly once in a generation arm talent. I see a kid who not only loves football, but takes all the necessary steps to be great.

I don't see too much Plummer in him other than they both scramble a bit.

Even if the team absolutely falls apart and gets the 1st pick in an up coming draft they still will be drafting a kid that needs alot of work. High School and College football is a completely different game now then it was 10-15 yrs ago.

I think he is closer to a cross between Jake & ARod. BA & SK have said the hardest thing to judge on a player is his heart & his head. This kid has both in spades. If he is this accurate with sloppy footwork just think how it will be when they clean it up.

I do not have a problem with him because unlike other QBs with a strong arm which are seen as a project, his accuracy is not an issue but more of the mental aspect. Derek Anderson could know where to throw the ball but he would get it somewhere there anywhere on the field with velocity and off target... Mahomes has an accurate strong arm

I like the kids positives, but his negatives keep him of my board in Rd 1 unless it's a late trade up.

I think that the best comp is an embryonic Matthew Stafford. Stafford has almost always had good counting stats, but came from a more sophisticated offense than Mahomes.

I think the biggest thing with Mahomes is that there hasn't been an Air Raid QB that has been able to transition to a pro-style offense, regardless of how much time they've been given to sit on the bench.

My biggest issue with Mahomes is a complete lack of highlight plays from the pocket. To me, that speaks to a lack of comfort working from the pocket, and that is pretty much what the NFL is about. I worry that he is all frosting and no cake.

I'm more concerned with his crazy ass lob throws that will be picks in the NFL. I don't think we take him anyway cause it's sounds like the Chiefs are gonna trade up to take him
