This is insanity. OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES is why people live in Arizona.

It's okay to admit you didn't think things through when you first posted. It happens to all of us. But as the saying goes, when you find yourself in a hole: stop digging.

110 degrees is overblown. Any person his age can handle 110 degrees. Especially an athlete. Beyond this, 110 degrees is only part of the day. So don't do something active between 1-5pm. Hell you could do something outside, do something inside, then party at night here in Phx. Doing something here at 95 is like doing something at 75 somewhere else almost. I remember being in LA where it was like 75 out and I was sweating, and I was like WTH is this? It's supposed to feel cold, but felt more like 95 to me.

It's about drinking and driving. These guys have money. They have limo services. Some people go out and can spend X amount. That's not an excuse to drink and drive. But some people can't afford the cab ride home, as it is as much as they spent at a bar. Some people can only afford to spend 20-30 bucks on drinking. They foolishly think they can drive home. Some people drink for even less by staying at home. There is no excuse for drinking and driving. But having these options IS one less thing a person who drinks has a reason to justify to themselves (which is what matters) when making such a poor decision. Those that have money AND a car service waiting, IS making a worse decision. If it's 0 or 1. It's still 1, but with a service it's like 1.01 or 1.05. It's still worse, though not having those options still passes the threshold of being wholly in the wrong.

There are plenty of indoor activities to do in Phx. Numerous bowling allies. Indoor rock climbing. A lot more malls than South Bend to spend some of that signing bonus. Don't forget Laser Tag. They could even find some pick up basketball games at a facility like a YMCA, their gym, or even a boys and girls club.

We also forget the numerous public pools, and of course as others stated water parks. I forget if Big Surf found the money to reopen, if so we have at least three with Golfland/sunsplash and waterworld.

There's castles and coasters still right?

Movies/Imax 3d. Various video game arcades. They can even go to an Indian casino.

We also forget we have other sports here. Floyd couldn't go to a Coyotes playoff game during the time? He couldn't go to a D'backs game? If $arver didn't own the $un$ you could maybe even say a $un$ playoff game.

When heat isn't an issue if you don't want golfing, there's goofy golf, batting cages. Paintball.

(edit: I forgot there's even Comicon about a week ago. I never went to one, but said hey, why not, William Shatner was there and at his age how many more chances was I going to get. While there looking around (and it wasn't hard to spot out) guess who was there standing in line to get one of the Star Trek: TNG casts autograph? Robin Lopez).

They could do any of this stuff and still party at downtown Scottsdale. But they should be doing it responsibly. People just don't understand the pull because they haven't seen it. Great nightclub after nightclub with a few bars mixed in all stocked to the brim with beautiful women. I don't think I've ever seen a place without a sports guy there and sometimes you can find ten of them at a single place. It's constant sports and other celebs there and you pull all the women from ASU (one road down and six or so miles away) + others.

Finally even if it hits 110 degrees this is only for a few months, and I don't even know if we've hit that yet. Sure we have about 100 days over 100 a year more or less, but there's 365 days in the year, and the hottest parts of the day are only about 1/6th of the day and I'm sure he has a/c in his car. Plenty of stuff to do inside and out, and plenty of reason for him to both party and yet party responsibly.

Outdoor activities is why Mike lives in AZ Now? I thought it was because he was drafted to the cardinals.

Yes it does happen to the best of us. Like it did you just now.

Because you are the one who made it seem as though New York and Miami were destinations for someone to AVOID drinking! I asked you specifically what you think young guys with money do in those places? They drink! New York, Miami, LA, those are big time places to be if you're young, rich and want to get wasted. You make it sound as though those cities are chaste. And especially at 2:30AM... whats he doing in New York in the wee hours of the morning that he wouldnt be doing in Oklahoma... going to a mid-night showing of Cats?

Then I apologize for not being clear enough, however now it seems you get my point.

Whys this going over your heads everytime?

Weve established the activity options are: Clubbing/Drink, or Stay in (not drink), or ton of fun outdoor activities.

This applies everywhere. Any city. Whats special about AZ?

Its gets to 110 degrees, thats what. Its hot as balls here. Mike is coming from South Bend (aka pretty cold most of the time).

Therefore, you can scratch OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES off the list.

That leaves: Stay in (not drink), or Go Clubbing/ Drink.

and 1.

Has everything to do with it. You think old white folk and young black folk have the same culture?

child please.

People move here for the heat and lack of humidity. Just because you hide inside all summer doesnt relate to anything. I am outside every weekend with opeople who moved here and are not natives. Most of them are flagstaff natives where it is plenty cold.

funny how 15 people have responded the same way yet you think we are the ones who dont get it. Miami and New York are no different as far as avoiding drinking. Besides, who goes to the beach and doesnt drink? Nonsense.

The point is that just because it's hot doesn't mean people don't take advantage of the outdoors. Yes, "people." I don't know what Floyd will do with his time (neither do you). But that doesn't negate the fact that there is A LOT to do in Arizona other than sit in a bar or dance in a club.

I dont think I get your point. Unless you are saying my sarcastic answer of "going to see a midnight showing of Cats" is something that would legitimately keep a young man with cash to spend from drinking at 2 in the morning.

Sounds as if you're the type who locks his doors from the outside and sets his thermostat to 72 when the temperature cracks 100 degrees.

Seriously, if you think AZ is boring with no outdoor activities, may I suggest Kansas City?

I live in Los Angeles right next to the ocean and I STILL think there are a ton of awesome, unique things to do in AZ....mainly outdoors.
