2021 - Prove It
Excellent notes. I'd forgotten about Harvey, although Quinn could be a value pick at that point and a bet hedge.
Shaun Hill seemed to stay upright; I think it's a Matt Stafford problem in Detroit and not an offensive line problem. Kid needs a glass of milk.
Fair enough on the Eagles. As I said, I wouldn't be surprised to see them move up to get an OT or maybe Akeem Ayers, who I think would be a good fit for them.
I think this OT class is interesting in that there are some guys that are well-regarded, but not elite players. Tyron Smith could move over to the left side very easily, but the Fins don't have a great OL right now. That's a value pick, and Miami could trade down. Carimi could get his start on the right side, but I'm not a believer in the OG conversion project the Chiefs are starting on the left side, and he could win that job.
Thanks for the notes. We really disagree on Jake Locker, but you're a quality poster on this board.
Jake Locker and weight gain...
As far as the Lions go, I agree that Stafford seems fragile, but Hill also got knocked out for a couple weeks last year which forced Drew Stanton into the lineup. In a division with Jared Allen, Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers, I just think that they will go offensive tackle unless Amukamara falls into their laps.
I also see the Eagles moving up or down because unless they are sold on Danny Watkins, there isn't much that fits where they are picking. Maybe they move up for a player like Jimmy Smith, Tyron Smith, or Mike Pouncey. Maybe even Corey Liuget if they are sold on him. The one thing that is apparent is that Andy Reid likes spending first rounders on offensive and defensive linemen.
As for the OT's, I like Tyron Smith and Anthony Castonzo in the first, and Gabe Carimi in the top of the 2nd, but you are correct that none seem like elite players. It is actually one reason that I wouldn't be surprised to see teams draft guards Mike Pouncey (who I think Miami or New England will take) and Danny Watkins before tackles like Carimi, Solder, or Sherrod.
JJ Watt and Cam Jordan also fascinate me as they seem like they could go anywhere in the first round. Dallas and Houston could jump on them, or they could fall to New England or the New York Jets. I think that they are far too talented to be picked in the 20's, but it could happen. I think both will be studs as well.
I also find it interesting that, unlike many years, all mock drafts seems to have the same players, just shuffled around. 3 or 4 QB's, 1 RB, 2 WR's, 5 OT's, 2 OG's, 4 DB's, 2 or 3 OLB's and the rest are DT's and DE's.
