LAWRENCE — Kansas football announced in a release Wednesday that Jayhawks fans will have a chance to get a look at the team this spring during a Fan Appreciation Day that will be held on April 5.

That day will include a family fun zone and an autograph session. At the Murfin Family Practice Field that day, next to a David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium that is undergoing renovation, fans will be able to start to see KU players in action. After gates open at 9:45 a.m., and practice starts at 10 a.m., that practice will extend until about noon.

“Parking will be available in the lots surrounding David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, as well as paid parking available in the Mississippi Street Parking Garage,” the KU release stated.

“Fans are required to enter through the north entrance of the Murfin Family Practice Field. A standing room area will be available on the east side of the practice field as well as a family fun zone with an autograph signing with student-athletes following practice. The autograph session is scheduled to last approximately 30-45 minutes.”

Kansas is coming off of a season in which it finished 5-7 overall and 4-5 against the Big 12 Conference. This will be the fifth season of head coach Lance Leipold’s tenure since he took over ahead of the 2021 season.

The Jayhawks reached back-to-back bowl games in 2022 and 2023, winning one in 2023, before taking a step back last season.

Chief among the reasons to be optimistic about how the 2025 season might unfold is the return of quarterback Jalon Daniels. Despite Daniels recovering from an injury, there’s stability in having an experienced quarterback to rely upon. However, how Kansas performs this year will depend a lot upon how well the numerous newcomers on the roster acclimate to the program and succeed.
