Baylor is still not an NCAA tournament team, not with a 5-11 conference record. They need at least two more wins in the Big 12 tournament to get in.

they pretty much need to win the tournament, imo

they just fell apart when they hit conference play - looked good at times, but horribly inconsistent and eventually would just fall apart during the games

i'm hoping they can continue to make some noise though

I'm a tag in this thread? :trout:

We came out really flat and allowed them to take a 15 point lead. Came back but could never get over the hump. Shots just didn't fall and the usually fly paper defense KU is known for hasn't been there the past few games. Freshmen losing their steam from the longer season? Hitting a slump at the wrong time? I don't know. This knocks us down to a 4 seed probably.

It was bound to happen sometime in the tournament though. After winning 3 straight Big 12 tournament championships the law of averages start to work against you. Lots of fans like seeing KU falter.

Edit: I can't spell straight it seems.

Interesting comparison here (conference record including tournament):

Current Record: 19-13 Current Record: 19-13
RPI: 55 RPI: 57
Sos: 15 Sos: 30
Last 10 games: 4-6 Last 10 games: 5-5
Last 6 games: 3-3 Last 6 games: 1-5
Conference rec: 7-11 Conference rec: 9-10
Vs. Top 50: 4-10 Vs. Top 50: 6-10

That is a close comparison
If Baylor could upset Texas, it could get interesting for the Bears

You'd have a point if people were arguing that Arizona belongs in the Tournament. Not to mention Arizona still has a better resume than Baylor. More quality wins, less bad losses.

And 'Last 6' is something new. I'm assuming you made it up because I've never heard a committee member even mention it as part of the decision-making process.

I've heard it mentioned by a lot of "bracketologists", although it's usually tempered with they prefer the last 10 for a more even analysis

also baylor has a win that UA tried 3 times to get and i still don't think either school belongs

Who cares about record in the last six if four of the games were against Colorado, Iowa State, and two against Nebraska? Six games is too small of a sample size to get any sort of accurate reading on how a school is playing.

except now their last six will include Kansas, 2 meetings with TX, 2 with NE and CO.........

6 is pretty small, but the logic i've heard for it is that it usually includes a big inconference game and the conference tourney games at the end of the season

however, most like to see the final 10 for a true trend

either way people will look behind the trend and see who was actually involved - a team that finished 2-4 vs top 10 competition is obviously still going to probably hold an edge over a team that went 5-1 against teams outside the top 100

Well I thought Renz made that implication on the UofA board compared to his statement about Baylor here. Really though it's just a comparison I saw somewhere else and copied and pasted it here. So if last 6 isn't a legit comparison I'm sorry. I honestly didn't give it or the post in general that much thought. Baylor now making the Big 12 finals (and god help us hopefully winning it over Mizzou) I think they've got to be in consideration to the tournament.

So will Kansas be ready to play in front of a very hostile, pro- North Dakota State crowd?

Lets hope so. How's if feel for UI to be one of the biggest upset pick candidates with Western Kentucky? They probably gotta manage more than 40 points to win this game.

I will probably pick against them...

With Chester Frazier out, WKU's success last year, and the general sucess of 12 seeds, it was expected.

he only points out when he is right. He doesn't acknowledge being wrong. He also said Syracuse was one of the Big East teams that wasn't that special.

Happy to be wrong on UA, wasn't the only one though. And the majority of this thread had to do with Baylor's worthiness compared to Arizona which of course everyone including the selection committee but you considered ridiculous.

Do I need to go back and look at some of your predictions?

Definitely the toughest 6 seed in the tournament this year.

It's really nice not worrying about the performance of my team this year. It's all house money. We're out performing all expectations and I've still got Mario and his shot firmly on my PC desktop and in my memory. Defending National Champs!!
