Is this the sickest play in a long time? I almost gave up watching football for good after that fumble. Ugh, makes me sick to think of it.

Those idiot announcers yesterday gave credit for the fumble to the first guy that hit him. But, it was clearly the second guy that caused the fumble. Williams said his entire arm was numb after the hit.

This was an "old school" Cardinals play. Losing this way brought back memories of the way we used to lose before the onslaught of routs under Tobin and McGinnis.

The play call itself wasn't a bad call. The guy just fumbled but that play was open all day.Atlanta never accounted for the reverse.

The play call was not the problem, although end arounds seems to never work for the Cardinals. Williams can feel free to go out of bounds or keep two hands on the ball.

Play call was perfect. Fiztgerald was man handling the cb on that side of the field. Mentally Williams has to realize the magnitude of that possession. After he got past the first down marker, two hands on the football , or get you @ss outta bounds

As I said on another thread Williams made the mistake of slowing down and juking - trying to read the block I guess. Once he lost momentum he was a sitting duck for the defenders. As anyone who has played football knows - if you want to get creamed slow down before contact.

All he has to do is keep going full speed and we lose 9-6 in overtime. :D

actually - a sicker play occured for Arizona than this one...and it was the Arizona Wildcats..I am not a big fan of the UofA...but all they had to do was run out the clock against washington state on Saturday..had the lead..like a minute and a half left...at worst they could have killed the clock for 3 plays and then punted and given the cougars the ball with like 20 seconds and no time outs left..what happened? they Fumbled....it was probably worse than the cardinals blunder - as UofA could have killed the clock and had the lead. Wash state recovered the fumble and scored...

The play call, was great. If no fummble first and goal. In hindsight which is easy it is obvious that he should have went down earlier or out of bounds. He went in high and the defender went into his arm causing the loss. He tried to make something more out of a good play. That my friend is football. By the way Williams had a great game up until then and was one of the real bright spots on the field. The catch he made on the sidelines with two guys on him was remarkable. He can be my number three WR any day!

I felt as bad as anyone after that fumble. Sometimes yo just have to give credit
to the defense. Williams just got hit so hard that his arm went numb. Not much you can do about that. Just a great hit.

I didn't like the play call.

All we had to do was run three times into the middle of the line, to try and get 6, or kick a field goal to tie it up, and go into overtime.

The ONLY thing we COULD NOT DO ...is turn it over.

So instead of an experienced running back ramming into the line, we have a slow developing, deep behind the line of scrimmage, skinny little wide receiver carrying the ball.

The worst case scenario happened.

But it's not like that was the REASON we lost the game, it was just the LAST reason.

This was the worst weekend in football for me. As a UofA student that game hurt real bad. 2 and 2 is a lot different from 1 and 3. The rediculous thing is we could easily be 3 and 1 if things would have gone our way.
As for Karl Williams, he looked like he injured his arm on the play the way he walked off the field. His arm was just hanging like it was a dislocated shoulder or something.

Next time, let's just kick the field goal on 1st down. We would've won 12-6 yesterday if we kicked the field goal on first down each time we were in the red zone.

Here's a screen capture of the play. You can see how close they were to the end zone.
