Won't let me post the link but it's on the spoctrac website.

Steal IMO.

If you take into account the Adam Snyder release the cardinals are about 13M under the cap minus Jonathan Cooper

Wow, if that's accurate then that's a great deal. I'm sure he could've gotten more money somewhere else and he chose to come here so that says a lot. I doubt we get that kind of discount next year though if he has a great season.

really? I thought this put us at about $10M. Oh right, I didn't even think about the savings from cutting Hoyer though. That would be about $12M then? Either way. Great job by the FO. I keep getting happier and happier with them every time they make a move

my only beef is at 12M under, it still makes very little sense to cut Rhodes loose.

Great deal.

As to our capspace, while nothing is for certain, remember back to what Arians said a while back, and I'll be paraphrasing from memory.

But he basically said that from training camp on through the season they had dozens of new players. That they just kept bringing in new players. Some of that was injury related though.

While it looks like we are pretty much done, we may be surprised to see quite a few more moves ahead. I guess the only way we know is what we have left a couple weeks into the season.

Though again I believe it's ok to carry money into a season IF you plan on using it on extensions and forwarding some of that money to take the pressure off cap space in future years.

Maybe they didn't want Rhodes for some scheme reason. Who knows. But if we don't sign or re-sign players, yet have that sort of cap space left, it doesn't look really good.

But as of now we've seen Keim get some really good flexible deals that don't hamstring us in later years while addressing needs now. 2.25m for Dansby is highway robbery.

So hopefully he continues to impress us with perhaps some june 1st and/or training camp cuts.

I think it is closer to $8.5M and we still have to sign some draft picks. After that we will have a little buffer in case a player we like comes along after cuts.

why do you think it's closer to 8.5? Urban has said it's about 12 million just this week...and we've signed the majority of our draft picks.

Kerry's been on the market for a good minute too, I hope he comes back. I heard Arians cleared out some dudes to get tottal control of the locker room, I hope Rhodes wasn't on that list. I remember him and DD beefing at the end of that one joint, everybody was tripping on that for a couple weeks. I don't know bro, I know I'd love to see him in Az again.

Well we have signed about half of our picks so far. Still have both 4th rounders, TM and Cooper to sign.

yeah...the longer he sticks out there, the more I think his "best friend" might just play a role in the reason why. Dude's still right in the middle of his prime and has been a playmaker with both teams he's played on. it's very curious to me.

Maybe if he were 3-5 years younger. But, I doubt he could have gotten much elsewhere. Inside LB. Turns 32 this season. Very good player, but not one that teams beat down the door for, IMO.

I'm right with you. Rhodes was one of the next jerseys I was getting. He's been awesome for us. Hopefully now that he's tested the market, he will just come back to us

I think Rhodes was a combination of his cap figure combined with his not wanting to be in AZ. I'm sure BA and Kiem felt his large cap figure could be used more effectively elsewhere without losing much at the safety position

If this is true, they're wrong. Safety is our weakest position in my opinion. I think there's more to it than that, but that's just a hunch. Something about the altercation with Dock hasn't been released: Dock spit in the man's face, and we keep Dock and not Rhodes? Then they go out and give up 58 against Seattle? They let both Safeties go, and neither one of them makes any sense in my opinion. BA has been forthright when it comes to a lot of other stuff, but when it comes to our safeties not much has been said, at least to my satisfaction.

I think this is the issue IMO. I've read the Kerry Rhodes thread and we can all sit here and say he's gay who care all I care about is football but at while every team will publicly say they support gay rights yadda yadda but at end of day no team wants to deal with the distraction and media fire storm that will come with the first active player to come out. I could care less what a player does in his free time but the facts are it will be a distraction and may cost a team games if players are focused on answering question on gay player X instead of game plans. It's not the players fault its the eventual media firestorm that to blame. Just like Tebow.

I got 2/1 Kerry Rhodes is first NFL player to come out. And it's not like they can ask him to wait till after the season to come out.

I hope that isn't the case. If they let him go because he was gay, they had to have known by last season. Weren't the pics released after the season? He still played well and didn't seem like much of a distraction except for the altercation with Dockett, and that looked like it was Dockett's fault

– The one-year contract of Karlos Dansby calls for a salary of $1.25 million this season, according to the NFLPA. Kent Somers reports Dansby also got a $1 million signing bonus. That’s $2.25M (yes, I am sharp at math), which is obviously well below the $6M-plus Dansby had been originally scheduled to receive from the Dolphins before he was released. The Cardinals had approximately $8.5 $10.5 (forgot about the money cleared in the Hoyer release) million in cap space before Dansby (A $2.25M cap hit, obviously) and second-round pick Kevin Minter (who should count about $800,000 against the cap, and I’d figure he’ll slide into the top 51).

http://blog.azcardinals.com/2013/05/14/a-visit-a-signing-and-some-money/

So about 8.25 left in cap space. In the past the Cards liked to have about 5 mil of cap space going into the season, not sure if that's still the case.

I would feel much better with Woodson or Rhodes in the DB mix. Based on all the other moves BASK has made maybe they are waiting to see how OTA's go to determine if they have a need at Safety.

Although many of us have concerns about the FS position I think that BASK has earned the BOD at this point.

I think this is it. There's no other reason to release guys like Wilson and Rhodes and replace them with players not nearly as good if they have that much cap space left. We talked about changing the culture in another thread and it has to start in the locker-room where one generation of players passes it on to the next.

Speculation for sure but I wouldn't be surprised that when the NFL statute of limitations runs out 3-5 years from now Somers or Urban will have an article confirming it.

The Cards have historically been very progressive in regards to social issues. I know specifically that the Cards were one of the first organizations that hired black front-office staffers and they were proud of being the ?first? organization with a black coach and GM at the same time. I would be stunned to learn they ever cut a player due to sexual orientation.

Also, relating to the available cash.. with the number of players we have on 1 year deals, I'm guessing that we'll use much of the available cash to extend a few contracts as the year progresses. I'd like to think we've moved passed the days of shorting player salaries for the Bidwill family to pocket a few extra bucks..

Go Cards!!!

Keim should try to bring him back. Even if it's at the pre-cut amount of $6mil for 1 year.

B-R-I-N-G! R-H-O-D-E-S! B-A-C-K!

I am so excited so see Karlos back in Cardinal red.

Me too! But, after inking a deal worth $2.25mil a year you'd think he could show up at practice in team color cleats, and not his old white/teal Dolphins colored shoes.
