KC has Haley now and they need a QB. So instead of drafting Sanchez who will need development time or trading for Cassel who will cost a fortune - assuming Kurt re-ups we trade Boldin and Lienart for their #3, Tony Gonzales and we swap our second round pick with them. Haley gets two guys he knows and can build around them. The only caveat is that he may not want to deal w/Boldin + Drew. R.

We get our TE and have two R1 picks plus a high second. I would then deal the #3 for picks or maybe even take Sanchez at #3 to develop behind Kurt so he would be ready to start in 2010/2011.

I would kill myself if the Cardinals made that deal.

Mods, can we get a "Trade" subforum. This is going to be mind-numbing.

We should have traded Haley for Larry Johnson.

What if we sign KW and then trade him to KC for Tony G and LJ?

Ok I'll go sit in the corner now

First I think Haley would not want that trade, but who knows. Second I think the Chiefs say that is too much to give up. In their view Gonzalez is probably about = to Boldin and Leinart definitely isn't worth the 3rd pick in the draft and swapping seconds. IMO they would at least want to swap firsts rather than completely give it up in this deal.

I agree on the Haley issue but Tony's 33 years old and still has three years on his contract so the cap liability is there. There is also tangible value to the knowledge and instant chemistry between QB, OC and WR that goes beyond surface value.

In the past, there wasn't enough trade ideas to warrant its own forum. We might need to reconsider.

Perhaps, still a #3 pick, moving from the near top of the 2nd to the near bottom and giving up a pro bowl player to get back a top WR who gets hurt every year and wants a new contract and an unproven QB who also has an injury history? I just don't see it happening.

I'd take Jarred Page and Tamba Hali. Move Hali to OLB. Page takes over at FS. Doucet and Breaston take over for Boldin and we're set. Probably have to give them a draft pick as well. But Haley's an offensive guy so maybe he won't pay that much attention to his defense.

But previous poster is right. I doubt Haley wants anything to do with Boldin.

Hmmm maybe he'll take Leinart?

As head coach there is pressure to bring success as soon as possible to a franchise. Would have to be tempting for KC, but still can't see it happening.

Player for player trades are so rare in the NFL. It's not like the NBA or MLB.

the Cards won't want to pay for the #3 pick even though i reaaly like Sanchez and think he'll be the best QB in the draft. Leinart's in a tough spot. He'll now be sitting until his 5th year,if Warner re-ups for 2 more. I don't think that's a bad thing but he's not going to like it. I wouldn't trade him.

The challenge here is that assuming Warner stays healthy next year Lienart will be due a huge roster bonus the following year and we will have no idea if he can play.

We'd still have Brian St. Pierre!

That assumes the Warner will even re-sign. ;)

If he doesn't the world becomes an easier place. The Lienart show begins, we spend the 9M we save on Kurts deal and invest in the running game and run a more ballanced offence. Not a tragedy the way it would have been all those years where we had no good QBs but I hope Kurt reups.

Yup. I imagine the Cardinals brass is very, very conflicted about whether they want him to come back.

As a Warner fan, I'm pretty conflicted about it too.
