I heard the tail end of Bill's radio show today...and seemed to be saying farewell....

I was not aware that he was going off air...nor do I know who is replacing him..anyone know?

He was good in that he would let callers talk cardinals football all day...except for his golf show...he did not really try to steer the topics and kind of left it a free for all..which means he ended up talking Cardinals and NFL all of the time...except for the golf part..which I had no interest in.

Why does Bill Lewis go off the air, and Bob Kemp's asinine pompus hatred for his listeners get to stay on.

People listen to the wrong stuff...too bad Bill didn't have the ratings Idiot Kemp does.

ddog...I am not sure if Bill was punted off the show or left to do something else...suppose he will resurface elsewhere...

I hope someone replaces him in the 10 - 12 AM slot..as they were the only local sports radio show on during this time...

Well KTAR 620 is going to all an sports format Jan 1, Dave Burns said last night it was going to be one hell of a sports station, (BTW, anyone catch the 3 day experiment???) which implies more than just the same ESPN radio 860 garbage. Maybe he is going to be part of their local lineup?????

Do we know if 620 is going to do local sports hosts all day...or have jim rome clones from syndicated radio on all day? I am a little surprised...sports ratings in this market are not good..and 620 is basically known as the local "news" talk station.....they have way more local news than anyone else...and virtually all local programming....suppose that model does not work either. I suppose when they enter the fray either 910, 1060 or 860 will have to go to a different format...probably too many sports stations...

Also..some of the 620 am guys are quite popular local personalities...and some of them are not sports guys...so I suppose someone else will pick them up and restart the news talk format...

620 is now on 92.3 FM and power 92 is now on 98.3. News talk is now on 92.3 FM for good.

I think the focus of the AM sports KTAR 620 is to be local based radio with ESPN licensing for sports.

Thanks for the info...guess I am not exactly "tuned" in. Hopefully KDUS will fill the 10 - 12 am time slot with local sports....maybe they should do like 10 - 2 so Bob Kemp gets less airtime!

i could never listen to bill lewis. plus his sidekick (evan i think?), just wanted to talk about baseball. plus the show was so sloooooowwww moving. 2 ppl in a coma could have a more tantalizing conversation than those 2.

best to worst radio shows in az:
dan patrick (best interviews by far)
colin cowherd (cracks me up usually. too much college football though)
bickley and mj (talk about good things usually. mainly cards and suns. interviews suck though)
jim rome (his rants are entertaining. interviews are boring)
gambo and ash (pimping crap too much, too many commercials. stupid topics sometimes. low sports IQ and recollection)

and im usually in my truck 4 hours a day, so i listen to most of them routinely

I talk to some people from 620 and they said they weren't sure what they were gonna do with 860. I find that hard to believe that thay don't have a plan yet. I think the person I talked to didn't know much.

IMO Bill Lewis was boreing to listen to. Slow talking and very passive. I don't listen to sports radio when we lose , it's abd enough on Sunday and Monday for me I don't need them to tell me how the Bidwill's caused all these losses.
I guess when I listen I try to catch the guy the calls himself the insider as if he sat in on all managment meetings. It doesn't surprise me that 860 has no plans yet, but I imagine another bible station coming to a town near you.

I think some of you guys on this site could put together your own Phx sports discussion via skype, take a couple pre-recorded questions and stuff, record it and publish it as a weekly podcast during the season, maybe a seasonal episode here and there around the draft and free agency. It would probably be 5x better than anything you're going to get on radio. Do it via Skype and you could have Russ Smith calling in from Cali, Jeff Golin from Jersey, couple of you guys in Phx... hell even maybe Ed B from chitown to throw in some spice on occasion.

It could he a Cardinals heavy podcast but with bits and peices of the NFL from all over since a bunch of us live in other team's markets.

ASFN could be the host of the podcast even maybe.

Just an idea.

Oh, and maybe Cheesebeef and Ouchie could be hosts of their own segment...

There would be alot more koolaid than you think. Pay attention to what they respond to, e.g. "I think that Orlando Huff has an excellent chance to make the Pro Bowl this year!"
