That is an accurrate assessment. You have to display some talent to get drafted. Main problem IMO is learning the game at the pro level and adjusting to the speed and professional offenses and defenses.

in life in general, talent is a small portion of everything, hard work, intelligence and dedication are what make the cream rise.

Somewhat OT but still Keim/draft related: Keim was discussing in Sept '14 how the Cards had John Brown rated as a late first early 2nd talent and trying to work out where they could pull the trigger on a small school guy.
Interesting on this weeks Around the NFL Podcast they discussed Cooks Vs Brown and in a re-draft taking Brown in the 20s.

So true.. I know several people with unbelievable talent that I would have killed for, and have made absolutely nothing out of it... Most because they are incredibly lazy.

Then there's a time a player comes along with all of it. I would say Fitz has been that guy for us in this current era. He's getting older but man he was and still is fun to see out there.

I think Keim is a great GM, and that's a funny line on his part. But to play devil's advocate here, doesn't this send the message that the Cardinals are willing to overlook "off field issues" or criminal activity if a player is talented enough?

Or wait until a later rd, like he did with Honey Badger.
