More math:

Watson:
2021: 16mm
2022: 40mm
2023: 42mm
2024: 37mm
2025: 32mm

Kyler:
2021: 9.7mm
2022: 11.3mm
2023: 17mm <-- 5th yr option (assumed it will be picked up)
2024: 44mm <-- Best Guess
2025: 44mm <-- Best Guess

Total Watson: 167mm
Total Kyler: 126mm

This is the main question to me: Is Deshaun Watson worth roughly 40mm more over the next 5 years than Kyler?
He aint getting $44 mm in 24 and 25
Are you kidding me????

If Watson got 42.... Why would you imagine it being so implausible?

Would he not get 35 per right now? Is he not getting better anytime soon?

Thats 3 years from now.

It is not only the 40M, but the price tag also needs to include the draft picks it would take.
And I would say.... Why would we give them picks? Wouldn't the cap position be good enough?

If not.... Why would we play ball?

Kyler is 23. Watson is 25.

2 6ears and 3 more years of rookie contract. Hell.... With Texas involved.... They may owe US picks! Haha

Because Watson is worth more to teams than Kyler is. There is a reason the rumor is that Miami would give up two 1s and a 2, AND Tua for Watson.

The cap space isn't anywhere near worth that.

When is the last time a true franchise QB was traded in their prime? There hasn't been one in at least 10 years I would think. (No Jay Cutler doesn't count)

So the interesting rumor here is that apparently the Texans are in fact trying to hire Bienemy, who is thought to be the guy Watson wants, and it sounds like he's going to turn them down because he wants no part of that organization.

If true it puts Houston in a horrible spot if they can't hire the guy he wants, it increases the odds he demands a trade, and they lose some of the leverage.

FYI apparently there's a very clear reason why Miami is so interested, they had lots of players telling them last year to bench Tua and go with Fitzmagic because Tua was holding the team back. Except when they played us

The bottom line IMO is you can't answer the question is it a good trade without knowing what the trade is.

From what's out there Houston would be looking for multiple high picks, now most teams don't have a 23 year old Kyler to include in the deal so maybe they would ask less of us, but we don't know yet.
You would think that KM who has thrown for 4,000 yards would be way more valuable than Tua who has potential only.

He is but we don't have the picks Miami has
I think Houston could be happy with the short term cap savings and the Texas-Born PR narrative.

From what they have shown, Miami would have to give Tua + three 1sts to approach what Kyler is right now.

The narrative right now is that Tua is limited and Kyler is electric. If you want to minimize the PR hit for dealing Watson, Kyler does that way more that Tua and picks.

The Patriots rank 26th in Value Rate and 24th in Value Vs. Expected Rate from 2016 to 2020. So, it’s definitely true that Belichick’s drafts in recent years have suffered from a lack of quality picks.

Watson is the matt ryan of the afc.

Will put up the volume stats anytime but when it counts

Cool story bro. Every team without a franchise QB is drooling at the chance that Watson might be available. Here in the Denver area, they can't stop talking about Watson, even as a pipedream. Watson could single handledly turn Denver's 5-11 team to an 11-5 team overnight.

No he wouldn't.

The Texans wouldn't have went 4-12

I'm not the one saying one qb is significantly better than the other.

Because that's just not the case

You are right. I am saying that Watson is SIGNIFICANTLY better than Drew Lock. The fact that you are somehow disagreeing with that is downright astonishing.

After ARod & Pat.... the next three QB's are undoubtedly Watson, Allen, & Wilson for 2020.

Put it in any order you want.

From the Webs:
Deshaun Watson just put together a season for the ages, recording career highs in passing yards (4,823), passing scores (33), completion percentage (70.2), and yards per attempt (8.9). His seven interceptions are also the fewest he’s thrown in a single season, including his rookie year, where he appeared in just seven games.

From the Webs:
With 11 games from Will Fuller, Brandin Cooks, and Keke Coutee. And a terrible OL. Pretty awful supporting cast.

I also feel that the sentiment that Mahomes, Rodgers, Wilson, Watson and Allen being the 5 best QBs in the NFL right now is pretty uniform.
